I agree with you.  I believe we'll all be worshiping him together at some point.  It will just take some longer than others to get there; and the process will not be enjoyable for them until the end of it.

No, I wouldn't (willingly) worship the god of the bible.  Even if I did believe he existed.  He sounds like a terrible deity, and I'm not sure why everyone thinks he's so great (aside from the fact that he agrees with many of their prejudices).  The biblical god is love in the same way that Lord Voldemort is a friend of Harry Potter.  That is to say, not at all.  If anything he's an enemy of love.  There's enough hate inspired by his religion that I can't really see how he'd be anything else. 

There's nothing that makes him worthy of worship.   "Worship him because he's all powerful" is basically saying that might makes right.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! Thank you to everyone in the forum for your insightful contributions, I am always challenged intellectually with much of what I read here. I have a quick question for my non theist compadres:

If you discovered personally acceptable truth (whatever that may be for you) that the Christian God revealed in the bible was authentic, would you choose to serve and worship him? If yes, why? If no, feel free to elaborate as to why as well.

I observe there are many former Christians and very knowledgable people here on the content of the bible, I look forward to hearing your responses.

The burning is karmic and electromagnetic for those who put up resistance to Consciousness. It is God's grace that you don't immediately self incinerate for violating the laws of natural counter balance. Aka free will to make choices and suffer the benefit or deficit thereof in time so that you may learn from them

I worship God because of that power of judgment to cleanse me of error I'd otherwise have no way of knowing or correcting. I try to I make myself fluent to consciousness. I do not hide from errors I find in myself, I do not resist my own feeling of "wrongness", I do not make excuses. I am grateful for the correction. It is a constant self pruning and retraining for good fruit.

I have experienced the fire of God that consumes inconsistency. I decided to save us both the further "trouble" and do it myself.

I'm with Lucifer on this one (assuming he's real as well). At some point you just have to rebel against an oppressive tyrant.

Even if you wanted to choose the "heaven" option, obeying it banks on this thing being reliable and trustworthy. I don't know why anyone would think that about something that is manipulating us into doing what it wants on pain of torture, seemingly for its own amusement. It doesn't seem to occur to anyone that such a foul being can just as easily throw you in the bin after watching you dance like a bitch all your life.

So basically... Kim Il Sung with much better publicity?  In fact the Christian God sounds a lot like Kim Il Sung when you think about it.  I bet the two would get along great if the Christian God existed.

I see nothing worthy of worship here.  Sounds a lot like an abusive parent who beats his kids for 'their own good' and because the kids need to be 'corrected'.  Yeah, sounds like a real asshole.  Still not seeing why anyone would think this guy is worthy of worship.  Sounds like people worship him because they fear him.  You're basically the battered spouse standing up for your abusive husband who hits the kids because he loves you, and without him you're nothing.

And like I said--fear is a bad reason to worship.  Otherwise might makes right, and I can point a gun at your head, and make you do whatever I want.  After all, it's for your own good, and I know what's best because I'm the one with the gun.
