One Bernie supporter to others OP/ED
RationalPoet....... I voted for Bernie too, but most certainly WILL vote for Hillary. There is too much at stake to allow as Obama aptly put it describing Trump as a "homegrown demagogue" to be in the Oval Office. If anyone wants to get stuck on Hillary, remember Nixon broke the law in a far worse manor. Reagan as well with Iran/Contra with several of his supporters convicted. And Bush Jr started two failed wars, one based on a blatant lie, which caused countless military and civilian lives. And Bush had far more attacks on diplomatic outposts with far more deaths. You can point to Hillary's problems all you want, but knowing how Obama was attacked even before he took office I have no doubt the same level of vitriol would be aimed at Bernie if he had won instead, but simply with different language. Bernie, has said Hillary would STILL be 1,000 times better than Trump, even on her worst day. And I cannot see how you can claim to support him, which I do myself, watch the convention knowing he sat through the vote count and graciously conceded to Hillary and threw his full support behind her, the same convention that had Obama and Michelle support her. Bernie knows and accepts what is at stake, which is why he did what he did and he is right to do so. A Trump presidency would allow him control of a majority congress and Supreme Court picks. That would mean attacks on women's rights, attacks on LGBTQ rights, overturning the ACA, overturning Roe V Wade, more gerrymandering discrimination against minority voters............ But the worst part of Trump's nomination is not just the possibility of undoing social progress, no, it is Trump's political demagoguery which is a carbon copy of WW2 Germany. His pandering to the segregation of the Jim Crow era refusing to condemn bigots is horrible. His pandering to the Cold War McCarthyism is also vile. Trump has gone way beyond the political muckraking that has existed since the founding. He has called Mexicans rapists, made fun of a disabled reporter, called captured Veterans losers, praised Putin and thinks we should mimic the brutality of Saddam as well as being endorsed by North Korea. Trump is a textbook narcissist and sociopath opportunist. Now is not the time for progressives to be divided. I think it is important to keep in mind this quote from a founder, "We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately." Benjamin Franklin.

Perhaps the DNC and Clinton should have considered that before they rigged the primaries.

As always, this is not a race between Clinton and Trump, this is a race between multiple candidates, all of whom have differences. A vote for a third party candidate is not necessarily a vote for Trump anymore than it is a vote for Clinton. I'm sick and tired of hearing Clinton supporters try and manipulate voters into voting for Clinton because she's not Trump. If people don't vote for Clinton, that is her own fault, and the fault of the DNC, not anyone else's.

No, he will not if every minority and women and both Bernie and Hillary Supporters unite. I am mad at Trump and the GOP for not only 36 years of failed trickle up economics, but just as much the level of hate filled demagoguery and vile Jerry Springer bullshit Trump falsely thinks is "telling it like it is".

This is NOT even a left or right issue at this point, this cuts to the core of how a civil society remains free and how global diplomacy is conducted. If you stupidly think it is acceptable for a western world leader to treat politics as shock jock radio, you are fool falling for a very dangerous person.

Do not think I am here to convert gullible Trump supporters. But I am telling Bernie supporters who ARE progressives and swing voters who are on the fence Trump is not an option and is a very dangerous person to both America and global stability.

Clinton is pro-LGBTQ and women's' rights? Try telling that to the millions citizens of all the dictatorships she's taken money from. We have people who live in Saudi who are active on this very forum, don't you know. LGBTQ members no less. It's so funny when people try to claim loves other women or LGBTQ people.

If Hilary was consistent then she'd be calling on a boycott of Saudi. Trouble, she loves the millions. The defence industry loves all the arms deals with Saudi. They don't care how many schools or hospitals are bombed by Saudi, so long as Hilary can help seal the deal.

She obviously doesn't care about all of the women raped by Saudi princes or the women who are raped or taken as slaves by the terrorists who have been given weapons by the United States whilst she was in the State Department. Hilary only cares about Western women. She's a massive hypocrite.

The secret pages came out about 9/11 linking it to Saudi. Where is the outrage from Hilary? That's right, she doesn't care.

(My emphasis.)  Fixed that for you, unless you have some evidence for thinking Hillary was in league with the party but Bernie was not.

This is not about Sanders anymore, Brian.  It's about them.  They didn't win so they want to take their ball and go home.

No they did not. Do you know how many individuals in every state are involved in the voting process? Thousands, if not several thousand. Now, if it were so fucking "rigged" as you claim, then why would Bernie himself not say "fuck it, I am running third party".

He got several major rule changes and platform issues done. Primaries in BOTH  parties are messy and words are always exchanged prior to the nomination within the same camps.

BERNIE was not wrong with his complaints, but it is absurd to call it a conspiracy, even backed off calling it rigged, but called it simply a bad set up. Of course people have their favorites in primaries. And even in the GOP there were words exchanged between Trump and Cruz and Bush. Yea it is fucking ugly sometimes. But still, I find it hypocritical to support Bernie, then not follow his lead at this point.

Nope sorry, the "rigged" system Bernie was talking about was not our progressive ideas as VOTERS, our common enemy is Trump and the GOP and the only thing our politicians, NOT VOTERS, can be accused of is 36 years of being forced by the GOP to play by their narrative.

Hillary swamped Bernie with votes, there is no way it can be called rigged. Even with a flawed process, which you could argue, the total votes even if we gave Bernie the math some claim he should have had, Hillary still won the popular vote.

That's it, and as I said, I wanted Bernie to win too, but that is not what happened, and at this point a protest vote for a third party is insane for the very reasons I stated in the OP/ED. It is absurd to value his run then turn on him, but more importantly, burn down the house and allow a very dangerous demagogue in Trump to win. Now is NOT the time for division.

The good thing is most Bernie voters are with me, even if some of them are going to look at it as voting for Hillary by holding their nose, if that is the way they want to look at it. I myself have always like both of them, no, I have not seen Hillary as perfect, but knowing the level of hate aimed at Obama before he took his first Oath, and knowing Hillary was attacked even before she held any public office, it is clear to me this is not about the GOP being right, but about wanting to be the only political power.
