How to be happy
#21
RE: How to be happy
You guys read my rant about life being like a big bowl of salt with some sugar nuggets randomly mixed? It is what it is. Hell, looking back, I coulda studied, coulda stay out of drugs, coulda done everything better. But I wouldn't change it Not for a moment. I was once on the verge of offing myself and amidst all the sadness, confusion and self hatred, I decided that no matter the place, I want to put my spoon in that bowl as long as I can.

Because there are sugar nuggets there.

Once you're there, you feel empty soon after and set a new goal for happiness.
I think the feeling at succeeding at a goal makes us feel happy because we've achieved what we've set out to accomplish. Fulfillment.
Happiness is a moving target we're constantly chasing...

Heart  Just giving kudos wasn't enough. This is everything summed up.

Also if your signature makes my scrolling mess up "you're tacky and I hate you."

How to be happy?
Lower your expectations. Not every moment and not every relationship has to be picture-perfect. Accept that we all have times of boredom and crippling loneliness in our lives and relationships. Bu ya know what? Keep going and it'll be ok.

I don't believe in happiness. I think life is about chasing drugs to nullify your pain.

Been there, done that, brought me much unhappiness and heartbreak, not to mention a crippling disease.

Oddly enough, I'm much happier now that I'm sober, even though things still break against me with regularity.

I was talking about metaphorical drugs as well. You know, like dreams, or religion, or what have you.

RE: How to be happy
I still think happiness comes from a process not a result. You chase results and then after you get them the hedonic treadmill resets your happiness level. Processes are about enjoying the moment. I think true happiness is enjoying the moment. When the hours just fly by because you're having so much fun.
