How can you prove that the gospel of Mark is not the "word of god"?

Same answer. It's not my job to disprove it. It's not to be accepted until the person making the claim proves it.

This isn't that hard.

Same answer. The claimee is held to provide the evidence. Once evidence is provided we can argue. What evidence do you provide?

Well, let's say that the claimee says "It is the only gospel without any errors. It is also seen by scholars as the most authentic gospel".

Well, the evidence would be that it is the only gospel without any errors. It is also seen by scholars as the most authentic gospel. So the claimee (if he/she is a christian) could say that this is the only gospel that was divinely inspired.

That's not strong enough evidence. A book can have no errors (that we know of) and still be fictional.

Again, I'm not trying to disprove it. I'm just not accepting that the gospel of Mark is entirely factual yet.

The book of Mark was still made by men, and we still have no originals. So you're still going on hearsay of hearsay of someone who claims to be inspired by a deity whose roots go back to being the lesser god of a pantheon. It's not very impressive.

Ok, suppose the claimee says something like "Without any doubt, I believe that Jesus was real and god-sent and the gospel of Mark is all I have". So how would you disprove this book to a Jesus believer?

Why do you want me to disprove this so badly? I'm an atheist because I don't believe in a god. I don't claim to have knowledge that a god does not actually exist.

If someone wants to believe otherwise, it's not my job to disprove them. They can believe what they want, but I'm going to follow the evidence instead.

You wouldn't. That's not your responsibility. "The gospel of Mark was divinely inspired," is a positive claim, therefore the responsibility lies with the claimant to provide sufficient evidence for its truth.

And how exactly do they prove that claim? Do you not understand the simple concept that the one who claims has to prove their claims and it's not the other way around?
