Hillary lied about having pneumonia, Trump lies about literally everything he opens his mouth about. Depending on the hour of the day, he will be building a wall and deporting 11 million people, or working on an amnesty program and saying he never said there'd actually be a wall. He will be punishing women for having an abortion or the doctors who perform them, or saying that's not the government's job. He'll be swearing to repeal Obergefell, celebrating NC anti-LBGT laws, or saying he's a friend of the LGBT community. He'll be the lead charge on the birther movement, or he'll be telling everyone that Hillary started it.
It's easy as shit to be a white, middle class guy and know that your life isn't going to change much with a Trump presidency. But part of being a humanist, if you are one, is thinking about all of the people whose lives could be a whole lot worse. As a black man in this country, I will gladly vote for Hillary if the other option is Donald Trump. It's not even close. Donald Trump nominating 2-3 Supreme Court Justices would be absolutely abhorrent.
Take your pick.....
More "Bengazi" conspiracy garbage. Hillary could only be accused of jaywalking at best when you compare what she has been accused of to Bush Jr, Reagan and Nixon. I agree Steel, SCOTUS in the hands of Trump would be a disaster to minority rights and women's rights especially.

If someone put a gun to my head and forced me to vote for one of the two, I would vote for Clinton and then go vomit. The only reason would be what Steel referred to earlier, the potential impact to my fellow citizens, but unlike others am not operating under the illusion that she will be a force for good; only that she is more likely than Trump not to make things worse domestically.
The SCOTUS concern that is often thrown around is a non-starter for me. People tend to forget that many Republican Senators are openly hostile to Trump and will not make anything easy for him. I also cringe at the possibility of five more Kagens and Sotomayors on the bench. I would rather see the likes of O'Connor, Kennedy and Souter; not a chance of this with Clinton.
Right now I'll stick with voting for Johnson, but there's a bit more than a month to change my mind. We'll see.

Going to quote this just to keep it visible and because it is such a poignant rebuke of young, idealist white privilege.

But surely you don't think she is crassly pursuing the office for her financial gain or for the mad rush of power like Trump? I'd bet real money that in her mind she is doing it to help kids and the poor. Not to say she hasn't become blasé about compromising with the status quo in order to win access to the power she thinks of as necessary to make a difference. I wouldn't take the job they want for any amount of money no matter how wow they gilded the cage. It would still be a nightmare. Hopefully we'll eventually get electable candidates whose values are more overtly consistent with their actions. In the meantime I remain genuinely grateful to get a candidate like Clinton. She'll do.

It's quite easy for me to conclude Clinton is in this for power and glory (not that this doesn't equally apply to Trump) considering the political machine that allowed her to carpetbag her way into the NY Senate seat. I also have a difficult time accepting Clinton being President Obama's independent choice for Secretary of State. I'll never understand why it has become a major political preoccupation for 16 years to ensure this person has an occupation commensurate with her exaggerated sense of self-worth.
She can't be trusted, neither can Trump. It is plainly down to the lesser of two evils. A shame really.

Hell, if Trump plays his cards right, he could easily have the House and Senate Republicans over a barrel to the point where, even if they wanted to make things hard for him, they will have little choice but to play ball. That's not to say that I disagree with Min. They'll cave in a New York minute, feckless fucks that they are, because they fear the backlash from Trump's base more than they care to stand for anything that may still resemble GOP principles. The last thing they can afford if they want to retain their tarnished brand is to be seen doing anything as shocking and unacceptable as standing with congressional Democrats against Trump for the greater good.
They can bluff and bluster all they want, but they lost control of their party to a megalomaniac who doesn't give a damn about their precious party "principles". They have no real bargaining power, as they'll soon discover the first time they try to thwart our homegrown demagogue and he brands them to his supporters. After that, bye-bye Republican party.
Of course, I hope it never comes to that. We'll see in November. I don't see where Trump picks up the necessary electoral votes to get over the hump, but he's running against a candidate who seems to be doing her damnedest to keep this thing close.

She's not doing her damndist to keep it close, the media isn't doing their job putting Trump's feat to the fire. They love a close race and they love a drama. News media lost it's objectivity in the 70s. Murrow and Cronkite would be ashamed of today's national "Journalists". Even Dan Rather has said they are not doing their jobs with confronting Trump. The good thing is that there still is enough local and on line media picking up the slack making it harder for them. There are still some national personalities not playing the ratings game, just not enough.

Another count in the indictment brewing.
http://www.rawstory.com/2016/09/new-bomb...rd-option/
Quote:New bombshell: Trump committed perjury or lied about trying to bribe Jeb — ‘there’s no third option’
Quote:Trump must be called upon to answer the troubling questions raised by the episode regarding Bush and gambling in Florida: Is the Republican nominee a perjurer or just a liar? If he refuses to answer—just as he has refused to address almost every other question about his character and background—Trump supporters must carefully consider whether they want to vote for a man who at best has treated them like fools over the past year, and who at worst, committed a crime
In answer to the final statement, the Deplorables will have no trouble supporting a criminal who tells them the fairy tale they want to hear. That's why they are "deplorable."
