Is God an Alien?

RE: Is God an Alien?
Quote:If it exists, it can be observed.

Not if it exists as something unobservable.

Quote:If it can be observed, it can be studied.

Not if it can't be observed.

Quote:If it can be studied, it can be understood.

Not if it can't be studied. Or even observed.

Quote:If it can be understood, it can be explained.

Not if the above can't be done. You get the idea.

Quote:There's no such thing as "the supernatural". It's just a word we use for "not yet understood".

The supernatural is that which is beyond the natural realm, so if it can't be observed or studied because it's not part of the natural realm, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It's undetectability and absence is indistinguishable, but that doesn't mean they're necessarily the same thing. They are in respect to human experience, but they aren't necessarily the same thing in principle. In actuality I mean.

Quote:Raëlism is a UFO religion that believes that all life on Earth was created in scientific labs by a species of extraterrestrials.

You know, compared to the xtian bullshit story that makes a lot more sense and since there is no evidence for either................

Quote:Ken Humphreys pointed out how there were "two Pauls" in the NT.

Ken's argument for that is pretty compelling, D/P.

I myself am skeptical about human contact with intelligent aliens.

If such contact occurred or were to occur, it would most likely be with alien bacteria.

There are some crazy bacteria even on Earth that can survive extreme conditions: radiation, lack of oxygen, severe cold, long periods without food.

If aliens were to explain strange happenings on Earth, it would still leave the question of where did those aliens come from.

I am apt to believe that life in the universe is not so unique a thing that Earth is the only place where it exists.

Yes, but unless Einstein was totally wrong about the speed of light it seems unlikely that anyone else is within range.

That was always one of the questions that the Erich Von Daniken school of thought could never answer.

1. Why would aliens bother coming?

2. Once here, why wouldn't they just take the place over?

Maybe because they'd say something like "Dude this place is a dump, lets check Mars out".

Really REALLY hungry?

There are 'a lot of people' who believe they have.

Some people think the fact intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is proved by them NOT coming to earth.

For example, there's a story about meat:

"So we just pretend there's no one home in the universe."

If aliens did bother to come, I find it unlikely that they'd just stick a probe up a redneck's arse, then bugger off.
'We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart.' H.L. Mencken

'False religion' is the ultimate tautology.

'It is just like man's vanity and impertinence to call an animal dumb because it is dumb to his dull perceptions.' Mark Twain

'I care not much for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it.' Abraham Lincoln

Aliens work in mysterious ways. We simple humans cannot comprehend the complexity of their motivations.
