Even if Trump nominates someone as Scalia to replace Scalia, you still have a makeup that advanced gay rights and continued to uphold Roe v Wade. Imperfect, of course -- Citizens United comes to mind -- but the midterms in 2018 are crucial to blocking any further nominations of his.

Our SCOTUS Justices are old. At this point all we can hope for is that they don't retire or die. If that happens, we'll be looking at a 6-3 conservative majority. It's what I was hoping we'd get with a Hillary win, except in the other direction.

I understand that they're old. That's why 2018 is crucial.

If they all suddenly became deplorable racists AFTER voting for Obama . . . .

The deplorable racists didn't vote for Obama in the first place, Vor...as they've been reminding us for 8 years now.

The Democrats can, hopefully, filibusterer; Hillary, after all, won the popular vote:

I know the American system is pretty much about registering for one party and not tied to the place of living as it is in Europe. That in itself is the problem. How do you know what number of liberals not wanting to be associated with any party voted? From my perspective they should have voted, clamping their noses with every tool avilable to them, but I also understand they were presented with a choice between the plague and the cholera. Being an avid follower of American elections for 40 years, this was the most unattractive choice ever.

I would have voted Hillary, but only for two reasons closely tied to each other. First, I could never have voted for a person who presented themselves as a Xenophobe and borderline racist. And secondly because I wanted to oppose someone standing for these kinds of values - lack of a better word. There's no positive reason I would have voted Hillary, but I would have done it anyway.

My point was, 10,000,000 who voted for Obama did NOT for Hillary.  I'm thinking 8 years of Obamaism turned them into drooling mindless NAZI racist fucktards.

You think they voted for trump? I think they just stayed home. That, and, well, about 2 million (and change) of the most motivated registered voters for each party die between elections.

That's the kind of winning attitude and gripping narrative that will get them to vote Democrat in 2018!

Trump got fewer votes than Romney. Republicans stayed home too, but the Democrats won at staying home.
