Of course.

My hope is that people can come up with a solution that doesn't leave families to be bombed into tiny pieces in a war torn country.

So go there and help them. I'd risk my life for my family. If you really consider all lives as equal, go help.

How does one even follow the other? I consider all lives equal so I have to somehow get into a country that almost certainly wouldn't even allow me in to help them how? Am I a human shield? Helping would be offering them refuge. I'm willing to do that already. I'm not an idiot. I think we need to vet as much as possible, but I don't see how me going to fucking Syria helps anyone. I said I hope people come up with a solution, not that I could muster up the courage to do something absolutely useless.

Your cognitive dissonance is astounding. Having basic morality and respect for other human beings doesn't mean one is responsible for the actions of anyone but themselves. If you really feel your family is perfectly safe around whites, you are being blind to reality. Yes some cultures do treat women like shit, but even in the so called first world nations women aren't that much better off. Take a look at some of the campus rape statistics to understand reality.

This seems to be a case of picking out the fact he was a refugee almost as a comtributing factor to the crime rather than being an incidental detail. A bit like saying "Blue eyed boy steals car". Maybe he did but the two facts are not connected.

Not to pick a nit, but economic migrants are not actual refugees and receive zero vetting. Agreeing with you, but adding a detail.

I think you'd try a little harder than that if it was one of your loved ones in danger. That;s just basic human nature. Pretending that you're above that human nature is the issue.

I never once said I didn't find my family more important to me than everyone else. I said I don't find my fellow countrymen more important than people in other countries. Still, there would be fuck all for me to do about it if someone in my family was trapped in Syria. If my whole family was trapped there, damned right I'd be banging down your door hypothetically to get them out of that shit storm. I'm not pretending shit. If you think I'd go to Syria to save any stranger, you're out of your mind. I'd welcome them here, though.

Portugal welcomes refugees. We have received some, problem is that there aren't many takers. No shit, life is hard in this place. We even have alot of cities an town with arab origin. Algarve.... Al-garve.

Meh, they caused no trouble.

And I don't believe that. I used loved ones as that's harder for you to deny. The truth is that we care about people who are closer to us than those who are farther away. You probably care more about some neighbors than you do other countrymen, but care more about those other countrymen than you do about foreigners.

Look at news reports of some accident or disaster. They frequently say something like "Plane crash kills 28, including 2 from [our country]." That's because people care more about their own countrymen than they do about others. It's not a religious or atheist thing, or a left or right thing. It's a human thing.

I don't care what kind of thing it is. It might be *news* to me because I'm from the U.S. so it's more likely that I would know the victim, but I don't find their lives to be more important. That's not a human thing to do. If you stuck an American and a Syrian in front of me and had a gun to both their heads, I would not care for the American more than the Syrian. I'd be equally horrified for both. There's no question about it. If I had some history on both and one was say a child molester, that would tip the balance. Their nationality does not. The only reason that I and people like me help our local humans out more is because of proximity, not some national identity thing. If it wasn't impractical for me to donate food, clothing, etc. to people in other countries or there weren't people near me who needed help, I would certainly turn my efforts there with the same enthusiasm. It just makes more sense fiscally for people closer by to help.

You used the family analogy as if I had said I care about strangers the same way I care about my family. Of course it's harder for me to deny because I never denied it nor would I. You can't equate strangers to my family. Strangers are strangers no matter where they are from.

I'm not denying there are genuine refugees, but the delusional attitude of the left is just hilarious. Maybe when it finally happens to them or their family they will realise.

Oh wait, it did. On many occasions.
Many of these people are escaping persecution. They despise the savages as much as you do. One of the best things European governments can do is to stop Saudi and Qatari funded front organizations from infiltrating Mosques and installing Fascist Imans and the like. These two countries finance terrorism around the world and the seemingly endless flow of money allows people to be corrupted and turned into cultists, whose main goal is to spread divide so that more people join them because they themselves feel victimized.

By living in fear we are giving the savages, mainly from the Cult of Najd, what they want. I refuse to live in fear of refugees. Doesn't mean I don't think many of the refugees hold idiotic beliefs. They mostly do. And we must fight these ideas in wherever we find them. We can give the children the kind of education only money can buy in a place like Afghanistan or Syria, and they will grow up to hopefully abandon much, if not all, of silliness of their parents.

Yeah, there are a lot coming over. But the situation would be a whole lot worse with Hilary Clinton as president. She would use her foreign policy expertise to turn turn Syria into another Libya. They would be way more coming over if she was president thanks to her view that the world is merely a chess board and Syria a piece of the chess board.

But maybe I'm too biased because I really enjoy falafels and kebabs...
