I make jokes about Tibby being gay for one of his friends, but it's a mutual joke. They definitely have a bromance and that's cool. It doesn't mean they want to fuck.

Weirdo.   Dodgy

Back in the 60s, that was a devastating rebuke.  No one really knew what it meant, but weirdos were real easy to spot and label.
 The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Really? I would have thought "weirdo" would have been more effective in the 50's, a time I lived in but was too young to remember. In the 60's it would have been just one more counter culture title to hold with pride.

I wasn't around in the 50s, but in the rural backwater I grew up in, the 60s were still the 50s.

Hippies weren't viewed positively either.
