Where things stand (baby news update from the geneticist)

RE: Where things stand (baby news update from the geneticist)
C_L, I sincerely hope everything goes perfectly this time.

It sounds like this was a rare fluky thing that happened with Joseph, and hopefully the next baby will be healthy and happy with two loving parents.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Oh sweetie *hugs*

I know there is nothing we can say that will bring you full comfort or less anxiety over this and it is understandable for you to feel this way but honestly this sounds like you just happened to get the raw end of a strange rare occurrence. The dominant genes will win out almost every time while the recessive lurks for its one shining moment. The chances of your next baby getting any deformed traits either of you or your husband carry is next to nil and the chance of it deforming by itself is just as unlikely.

I cannot and will probably never be able to fathom the pain you went through last time, but I'm hoping with all my heart things go right for you this time. I don't have any deities to pray to, but I wish you all the best nonetheless. We love you CL Heart

Catholic Lady, I suggest you and your husband get a 23 And Me kit. It's grand fun for the ethnicity map and has a whole suite of common genetic defect checks. I highly recommend it for both fun and peace of mind.

I haven't been posting as regularly, so just learning of a lot of this, here. I'm sorry to hear of what went on, you and your husband are in my prayers and thoughts. Worry can be often times really consuming when we go through a bad event, but faith is something that helps me not worry so much. Hope you find some closure for all of this. Heart

I am pulling for you guys, CL. You are a strong and resilient woman, and I admire you tremendously on a personal level. All those non-answers must be terrifying; I can't even imagine. You guys are young, and though I'm not basing this on any scientific evidence, I have all the confidence in the world that you and hubby will get your turn bringing a healthy little bean into this world to love...and fuck-up forever in the manner you both see fit. ?
