How can you possibly know how many of the people who come in are on government aid? The bloke who comes in to buy a newspaper or a stick of gum, the woman who pays cash for a carton of milk, the other woman who pays cash for cigarettes? When we have a minimum wage that's not a living wage, that means people need extra help to get by, so they don't have to spend all their waking hours at work just to feed themselves. Maybe part of the reason some people are unemployed is because other people are working three different jobs in a state that doesn't believe in birth control and sex education.
Yes that also means that people who have more should pay more to lift the rest up, because those people can afford it.
