Something which has always bothered me is how could it have taken anyone 40 years to get from Egypt to Canaan?

The number "40" is meant to signify "a long time".... like raining for 40 days and 40 nights or David and Solomon each reigning for 40 years. It's a real slap in the face to fundies but the number is not meant to be taken literally.

Hey guys, yes i agree, apparently alot of people are just waking up to these facts. In zachariah stichens book called "the lost book of enki" which you can listen to a free audio version of on youtube. here >snip<
we find that these stories and commandments were written down along time ago. the "god" was enki talking to a human follower. Mesopotamia was a very early earth society, from before and after the ice-age of 10,000 BC, those civilizations, were started, by enkis children, inclduing the egyptians.
Stichens book, is his best translation, of many inaccessable documents, including all of the tablets found in mesopotamia, known to be used in this book. he was on of the original founders of earth, from my knowledge, and stories, from a great youtube channel called "Spirit Science" so nobody is able to actually see this tablet. But I can bet that stichens did see it. wiki says it originated in the 8th century, because others mentioned it then, but i would surmise that it predates egpyt, and mesopotamia, they say it is indestructable, but who knows. on it lists, 14 lines of text resembling the ten commandments here is sir isaac newtons translation

anywayz enkis journal, from before 10,000 BC, and the emerald tablet, in my opinion are pre-date proof that moses was a straight fuckin fraud, haha.
