Windows 10 Running Slow

Check and see if they have done an update on you. Not too long ago they did an update which destroyed a lot of people's printer drivers and messed up things in a big way. They may not have learned their lesson.

Actually, they just did one a couple of hours ago right after I made a few adjustments that the video in my OP suggested. It doesn't seem to have affected anything, though. Not sure what those updates could have been. EDIT: Just went to shut my computer off and it gave a shut off option of, "Update and Shut Down", which closes all apps and updates the pc then shuts it off. Go for it?

Win 10 ruins just fine on both my laptop and 2007 desktop.
Firefox, on the other hand, needs to be restarted when it's memory usage goes above 1GB... I blame Firefox and only Firefox for this, as I can have works of tanks in parallel and it flows perfectly. Edit: oh, I also rarely turn my laptop off...I just hibernate. It mostly only restarts when Windows update forces me to restart. RE: Windows 10 Running Slow

I would consult Google "News." do a search to see if any one else is having trouble with Win 10 because of a recent update. It seems to me that the first place computer geeks go to complain is their computers. (December 29, 2016 at 1:20 pm)Neo-Scholastic Wrote: I really do not like the Windows 10 interface. It seems to go against the whole zeitgeist of MicroSoft which is business oriented. Someone once said that Bill Gates made a machine to do your taxes on while Steve Jobs made on to play the Beatles. Windows 10 doesn't seem like the workhorse I feel it should be. It's moving toward the general consumer/home user which, to me, undermines its whole reason for being. IMHO Install Classic Shell.
I don't know what computer you're running but chances are that there's an abundance of background processes slowing your system down. Before you do anything else, run task manager and have a look at which resources are reserved for any given app or process. Look also which percentage of your hard drive is used. If it's close to a 100 percent, it slows everything else down. You also might have a hardware problem such as a faulty drive or your rig overheating for some reason. There are a lot of free monitoring programs out there, which can tell you quite a lot about the components and their performance. I don't think it's windows. There's certainly another reason slowing things down.
Yeah the Anniversary Update is the only thing that I've had problems with.
I would recommend paying for MalwareBytes and making sure you don't have any mal/spyware slowing down your system.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

maybe you downloaded spyware or a virus? try settings and then ''storage'' to find out what's using space.
you have 32 bit or 64 one? download Speccy if you don't know. my win10 pc got down completely and I had to torn it back to win 8 but i was unlucky. hopefully this won't happen to you. defraggler to defrag fast. and spybot to search the pc for spyware. note: these are all freeware
