RE: Milo Yiannopoulos; the man twitter banned got a book deal. Currently #2 on Amazon.
The stronger the push, the stronger the kick back.  If we're going to try to silence him at every other turn, if we're going to ban him from speaking events or disrupt them so much he might as well be silent or if we're going to remove platforms like twitter from him, the platforms he has left are just going to be louder.

IMO, yeah, he's a huge asshole, but he deserves the chance to speak.  After all, if he's such a jerk, it should be easy enough to counter what he says with logic and reason.  Have a counter argument ready instead of just throwing a gag on him.  Hell, if nothing else, letting him make a big spectacle out of himself will just hurt his cause; when people realize what an obnoxious douche he is, they'll desert him.  But if they just know he's someone Leslie Jones and a bunch of SJW's hate, well, they'll push his book to #2 on Amazon.

I have never seen him provide a statistic that doesn't behave in a similar manner.  Like I said, I am not going to go through all of Milo's quotes and point them all out.  Just giving you an honest interpretation of Milo.
He's no more legitimate than any other political pundit that tries to pass off their position on an issue as fact.

So he was wrong when he debunked the infamous wage gap? Or when we showcased the ignored male suicide statistics? Or when he debunked the 1 in 4 women is raped Stat? Or when he made fun of "safe spaces"? Or when he advocated for free speech? Or when he said it's pointless if you can't have an open discussion in a university where you go to learn different perspectives in the first place?

I never said he was wrong. I said that he uses statistics poorly or disingenuously, which it is, I am not sure.

I'm not really here to tell you that your beliefs or Milo's beliefs are wrong. I am mainly here to tell you that Milo is basic. He's not giving you a detailed explanation of an issue. He is doing what everyone else in the media does. Calls their opponents stupid, and uses only information that satisfies their conclusion. If you think you are getting something other than entertainment from listening to him, I'm sorry.

I am fairly sure no one has debunked the wage gap theory though. I think the main issue people have is that the evidence provided so far is not convincing enough.

That's the equivalent of saying crime has been on the rise in the US and citing Chicago as evidence.

Edit:
Actually it's worse than that. Sports, and maybe entertainment in general represent an interesting segment of the economic sphere. The value of the worker isn't a product of their skill and work output as much as it is a product of consumer tastes. As a counter point, NBA players are paid much more than WNBA players.

NBA is more popular than wtf is WNBA again? Players get paid according to the revenue they bring in.
Men's tennis is also more popular than female tennis. Nobody cares about "women's sports" lol

And STILL male tennis players get paid less for MORE work.

Actually Women's Tennis is about as popular if not more popular than Men's Tennis from what I can tell.
I'm curious what data you have to show that women are paid more though.  Either way, using women's Tennis to suggest that the wage gap doesn't exist isn't really a debunking of the wage gap theory.

Wage gap theory lol. It's just another theory made up by shitheads with victim complex to earn more oppression points. There isn'teven any actual hard evidence for it Lmao, I'm pretty sure it doesn't need debunking when it's not even proven.

Quote:Tennis: Isn't it unfair to men for women to play only 3 sets in Grand Slams but still get the same money as men who play 5 sets?

An instance of men getting paid less for MORE work. Nobody cares about it. Everybody is after that 1 dollar the lady next door missed out on

So two things:

1) If you choose not to believe in the wage gap, that's cool.  If I want you to think differently, I have to show you the evidence.  This is however different than claiming that it has been debunked, which essentially means that it has been falsified.  If something has been falsified, then there should be evidence that it has been falsified.  So again, I am fairly certain Milo has not debunked the wage gap.

2) Women in tennis complain that they are not given the opportunity to play 5 sets. And I imagine, men do not want to play fewer sets. In a sense those two extra sets are desired by both genders, one of them gets them, while the other does not, despite the fact that the sport is equally popular for both genders.  Also the statement that random quote has made is that women get paid the same amount for playing two less sets in top level competitions.  It is not an overview of how much work women put into the sport relative to men, nor is it a real evaluation of how much the two genders are paid relative to one another.
