You see, we have that roe v wade thing preventing them from outright making it a crime. They have to go round the ballpark to touch the issue. The amount of "criminals" created, but more appropriately the effect of making them criminals absolutely -was- part of our justification for our decision to allow abortions. The law was worse than the "crime". I'll ask again, do you understand this issue, will you acknowledge that we're even having this discussion, or will you repeat talking points like a puppet and avoid any consideration of the issue entirely? You see, you don;t have to have a favorable view of abortion, you can consider it murder if you like. I don't have a favorable view of it myself....but it won't change the reality of the situation, and you do not need to have a favorable view of it to argue -for- it's availability. Whether or not you think abortion is "hur dur baby murder" is entirely irrelevant. I get that it triggers you, but try, do try, to get over your triggers. Most people, if you care enough to wonder, don't argue -for- abortion, but -against- the consequences of making it illegal. That's something that can't be ignored when discussing a law. We don't even have to wonder what those consequences would be, in this case, as we've been there, we've done that, we know how it turns out.

She decides that she cannot conscionably carry the child to term in light of, for example, your many posts on these boards (lol). She decides to abort.You call her a murderess for accurately assessing the likelihood of her child ending up like you. She decides to abort anyway, because Pool. Now what? Throw her in a cell because she didn't want to have your baby? Force her to seek the services of a coathangar because she didn't want to have your baby? Hate her all you like. Call her whatever you like. All fine and well. Laws that either declare abortion a crime or shoot around the moon to make it effectively so do the first two things. Abortion being available doesn't stop you from doing the latter two things.
