Cosmological argument, fine tuning argument, morality argument...

You can dismiss them, but they are stong arguments for the case of theism, well at least Deism.

As I have said before, the reason why I am a Theist (Christian) is because Jesus died and rose again, there is enough evidence to say that.

Quote:You REALLY don't see it? Look closely, no, closer... See it now, Staring you in the face? "Everything has a cause, but oh that god thing doesn't. God must be more complex than the universe to have created it." By that logic it would be more realistic to believe the universe (something LESS complex) had no beginning and is therefore always been here than to believe god has no beginning (as he would be MORE complex).

Attempting to use Occam's razor hear is silly, modern physics and astronomy would have to be thrown into a bin if Occam's Razor was always true.
When we are talking about the origins of the universe you can't invoke Occam's razor...

Quote:Of course if a god did create the universe than what makes people sure they are following the right god and it's not one of the thousands of gods people have invented over the years to explain things they don't understand. Then even if the Christians, Muslims and Jews have got it right, what makes either one think they understand how he wants us to live our lives and that their book is right? Then even if say Christians are the right ones, and the bible is the right book, how are we supposed to read the book? Literally? As stories? Not even the Christians agree. Pfft....nobody knows if a god exists and if one did certainly nobody knows how he wants us to live...Atheists are able to admit that, religious people are not.

This is a good point. When I read the Quran for the first time, I was surpised what kind of God was potrayed, it was rather scary. I concluded I was a Christians because I dont like how other Religions view on God. However, there is a lot of evidence to say that Jesus was the Christ. If Jesus was the Christ, it would mean that the followers of Jesus (Not Christians) would be right about what they claimed, thus, making the Bible the book God reveals Himself in...
Its ok to have doubt, just dont let that doubt become the answers.

Go read a high school textbook, Dunning Kruger. It contains more knowledge than any religious text.

See, the problem with those arguements though is the faulty logic and lack of supporting evidence. It's not just that they're being dismissed outright, but the reason those things aren't in scientific textbooks is precisely because those are faulty arguements.

Where? What evidence?
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan

Show me where logic is faulty...

Most scientists cant argue with the fact that the universe appears to be designed, they just say it wasnt designed, its all just an accident and we are just really lucky.

This book convinced me that the resurrection DID happen.

They are arguments. Not evidence. I could sit here and make up a great argument without evidence that god defiantly dosen't exist...but we don't know that's the case.

So you chose your religion based on what you liked the sound of...can you not see how silly this is?

And there is a lot of evidence Jesus was the Christ is there?!?!? Would you like to share the EVIDENCE?

The universe doesn't look designed. It looks naturally selected. There's a big difference. Theists mistake natural selection for design, but that is a product of their psychological need to feel in control. It is not a flaw with the FACTS of natural selection.

How is it not a evidence?

The evidence is that, the world and the universe appear to be designed...

No, I did when I was in-the-closet-agnostic, however, Im not like that anymore...

Quote:And there is a lot of evidence Jesus was the Christ is there?!?!? Would you like to share the EVIDENCE?

I will, but not now, Im tired, I will tomorrow.

I will leave you with a sweet quote:
“That is why, as an historian, I cannot explain the rise of early Christianity unless Jesus rose again, leaving an empty
tomb behind him.” - N.T Wright
Quote:The universe doesn't look designed. It looks naturally selected. There's a big difference.

Says who?

Dawkins and so does Hawkings believe the universe appears to be designed. You cannot use natural selection with something not alive. Galaxies and planets dont mutate...

They are things that you are attributing to a god, there is no evidence those things are due to a god. All those things have equally, if not more, plausible natural arguments. It's an argument for your opinion of a god existing, nothing more. Don't try and claim those things are evidence for a god.

Edit: Dawkins only says the universe APPEARS to be designed to go on to make the point of, appearance of design does not mean there is design, cherry picking quotes and changing their meaning really is a mastered art of religious fools isn't it.
