Quote:Preserved Fortification, Donkey Stables Dating to King Solomon
"Dating to King Solomon?"  Says who?  The fucking bible?  There is no archaeological attestation anywhere for the existence of such a person and the physical remains located show the stories about him to be completely fictitious.  But that doesn't stop some asswipe headline writer from asserting that anything can be dated to the time of that fictional putz.

Dr. Ben Yosef has been harping on this happy bible-thumping horseshit for years but in 2009 admitted

Quote:Were these ever King Solomon's mines? Actually, the legends surrounding Solomon's underground riches owe more to H. Rider Haggard's 1885 novel than to the Bible or historical accounts. Ben-Yosef said the real-life copper mines were definitely part of the kingdom of Edom — but there's still a chance that Solomon exerted some control over the region at times, by virtue of military victories described in the Bible.

As Israel Finkelstein noted in "The Bible Unearthed" the states of Edom, Moab and Judah attained statehood as part of the Assyrian empire's domination of the trade routes but in the 8th century, not the 10th.  If the Egyptians were no longer able to control the site is is totally possible that local tribesmen - who may well have later coalesced into the Edomites - could have taken it over.  Copper was too valuable to be ignored for long even though this was technically the Iron Age.  But a couple of turds of donkey shit does not make "Solomon" real.  And neither does the fucking bible.

If they find a pit of vertically bisected babies I might listen.

Working on it.

There is nothing better in life than lying next to the one you love.

And they don't know that you love them.

Or that you're in their house again.

Those we love are never really lost to us - we feel them in so many special ways-
through friends they always cared about and dreams they left behind, in beauty that they added to our days... in words of wisdom we still carry with us and memories that never will be gone... Those we love are never really lost to us - For everywhere their special love lives on.

BTW, one thing that Avalos missed when he was discussing the 'six-chambered gates of "Solomon" ' bullshit was that such gates were found in Syria and Philistia over a long expanse of time indicating that they were a common type of regional defense idea in an age when the whole concept of siege warfare was rudimentary.
