I'm fine with them as long as they're not hurting people or getting in my face. If I lived in a heavily religious country, I imagine my blood would eventually be boiling though.
Although I still wouldn't hate them, as such. I hate religion. I hate indoctrination. I hate what it does to people. I see them as victims, who have been conditioned to create more victims.
I do understand how it happens, though. My suggestion would be to look at it from that angle. I'm not in any way trying to justify or excuse religious beliefs. I think the beliefs are as stupid as you do, they are utterly mental. But humans are very suggestible and tend to "go with the flow", as an evolutionary trait. It takes a strong, critical mind and a lot of bravery and willpower to stand up and leave the group. Religious people are not necessarily stupid at all.
I'd suggest watching this video. Finding a way to soothe your anger seems essential.

But yeah I'm extremely open about being an atheist to people. I find all taboos to be problematic. I don't like that there's aspects of being human that we shun as unacceptable. I think human beings need to face the fact that they're human and except every single bit of our own nature. I don't know where this self loathing dichotomy comes from, but I can guess it comes from the dogma of religion that's systematically ingrained in our society. Fucking no more hating our own human nature, we're not inherently sinful, we're just animals.

Then perhaps you should accept the fact that many humans have a natural inclination to believe in something greater. I would except for the fact that I want to destroy religion in whatever diminutive way that I can. Whether it is just being openly atheist or refuting bullshit religious ideas, I'm happy to try to change things for the better. So, perhaps I begrudgingly accept that that's human nature, because if I didn't accept it then I would be wrongly assuming I could change the minds of so many blithering people.
