"putting their lives on the line"
hahaha give me fucking break.

drivers put their lives on the line too and road accidents are much MUCH more likely to happen. fucking icecream truck drivers are more courageous than your precious cops. let that sink in.

"ungrateful little shits"

oh for god's sake they're just doing their fuckin job. like everybody else in the whole fucking world. and not even a good one for that matter. you're naive if you think they're doing you some sort of sacrificial service

Woooow Hammy was right about you. The difference between everyone else's job and those that serve the public such as cops, fire fighters, EMS, and military is that they choose to go into the fields that could get them killed. There is nothing dangerous about my job behind a desk. The ones that hate the police are the ones breaking the laws. You don't break the law you have no reason to even associate with the police. You think they are doing a bad job then how about if they all just went on strike and just left people to do as they please. The police aren't the problem- people like you are the problem.

You won't find policing in the list of top ten most dangerous jobs.  It's not even in the running.  They're -half- as likely to be flat out murdered as your regular citizen......on duty or off duty.

What if they all went on strike..well, as I mentioned, there are 21 officers here, for a population of 10k....just what do -you- think would happen? Nothing of note, I'd wager. We wouldn;t have enough out of state cash to pay for the potato parade, I guess, but meh?

If someone is hit by a car at 40 mph they are 90% likely to be killed.

If someone is hit by a car at 30 mph they are 50% likely to be killed.

If someone is hit by a car at 20 mph they are 10% likely to be killed.

If it is posted as 25 but you go 30 you are putting someone's life in danger. The reason it's posted that low is because they take into consideration how many pedestrians are usually around and how safely someone can drive. Heaven forbid they might have researched it a bit before throwing up a random number.
Yeah......-or- county and city coffers need to be filled, payrolls need to be funded.   Angel

Speedtrapping is speedtrapping, of all of the things we could defend that cops get up to, this one....?  Honestly, I don't think that it;s a big deal, I understand their need to produce revenue, and that speed limits exist for a reason...but there's no sense in blowing it up to some heroic cops saving lives routine.  They're writing tickets.

So pedestrian safety mean absolutely nothing. Sure sure.... no. But even if it was for money reason you still broke the law and they have every right to ticket you. You broke the law you deserve to be punished. I've been ticketed for going over the speed limit and I didn't complain that I got caught doing something illegal I paid my fine and said I was sorry. It's extremely childish to get upset over being punished for something you did that you shouldn't have.

Who is it that you imagine I am?  Hilarious punishment language aside...I'm not one to get pissy over the few tickets I've had in my lifetime, but I also don't feel the need to make up obvious bullshit about why I get ticketed, and the heroic officers brave walk from his patrol car to my window to hand me the bill.

Don't know any. Not going to make a judgement based on the news/net.

It takes a lot for me to dislike someone and put them on ignore. Pool is one of those people.

The only one with whom I have had a personal relationship is a demonstrable racist with questionable gun safety habits. Still, the ones I deal with in my community seem like good guys.

I've only ever had good experiences with police officers.

Hehehe, my best experience with cops....more than a deacde ago down in Tampa Bay.  They busted up a party, I'm sitting at the table right next to to front door..the place is loaded with "strippers", paraphernalia, and the usual mob of underage drinking...I'm bombed out of my gourd....we're all trespassing in a foreclosure on the beach.

Flash my active duty ID and tell em to call the MP's....the younger one looks back at his partner, turns to me, and says "Get out".

Guy I went to the shindig with spent six months in jail.

Real good guys.

I was arrested once. A bad experience. The guy was kind of a prick about it. There was no reason to be a prick because I was really compliant and even friendly. I was driving someone else's car. That someone had the tiniest little nugget of weed in her console. He cut his hand on something reaching in the console and was asking me if I did iv drugs. I told him no. (It wouldn't have mattered because it wasn't my car. He could've cut his hand on the AIDS origin needle for all I knew) Then, he searched my bag, which had no weed, but some paraphernalia. It was one pipe with a few interchangeable pieces (it was popular at the time to stuff a chamber full of pot to get resinated by the pot you were smoking). When I told him it was one pipe, he was all, "then what the fuck is this?" I told him pieces. He said in a sing-songy voice "pipes and pieces, pieces and pipes." I said, "No. Pieces and pipe." The whole reason he had even been there to arrest me was because someone called the cops on my abusive boyfriend who refused to get out of the car, so it was nice of him to check to see if I was safe at home. (hint: he didn't.)
