Non-politicians should stay out of politics.
Really, most scientists can be considered intelligent only within their own domains, outside of that they generally lack the wit/street-smarts and shrewdness required to formulate political strategies.

I don't think the govenment should be run by scientists though. I think it should be run by truly ethical ethicists.
In an ideal world, I mean. And of course we don't live in an ideal world and so of course in the far from ideal world we live in if ethicists ever did run the govenment they'd probably be ethicists with views that are far from ethical knowing our luck.
