No, but if a major portion of those whose votes count in deciding who gets to operate have a long history of recognizing any self-styled surgeon as a genuine surgeon, then "Only surgeons should perform surgery" offers very little assurance that any standard of surgery would actually exist when only "surgeons" perform surgery.

I get the feeling people are too bogged down in the same entrapment democratic voting is in, where anyone can put into a electorate position regardless of qualifications - do you actually believe this is the case in any scientific field?

That may not be the case in what scientists consider the scientific field. But in this great country of ours it is not the word of scientist that the ruling party and its supporters turn to in defining what is science and who is a scientist. You have to overcome the fact that voters who has no clue what is science gets to define what is science.

I think there should be a House of Science, with a PhD required for any chance for appointment/election.  All factual decisions, like whether there's global warming, like the best way to teach, and so on, should have to be overseen by people who know how to make observations and decisions.

1)  You're crazy.  Shakespeare had it right: below the belt, women are all fire and brimstone.
2)  If hygiene is the goal, then a sex doll, a vibrating device of some kind, or even a clean towelette are all way more hygienic than any kind of actual sex.  Turns out that people like sex because it fires pleasure neurons, gives them a sense of connection, makes the heart beat a little faster, and so on.  A bit of yesterday's lunch on the wiener isn't going to make a guy give up all that, if anal is what triggers him best.
3)  My wife won't do anal, and I really have little interest in it.  But she'll blow me after I've been screwing her for 20 minutes, and she'll happily pretend not to notice the tip of my finger up her ass when it's time to finish her.  And she's one of the nicest, cleanest girls I've known in my life.  So. . . yeah, people aren't really that concerned with cleanliness tbh.

People like gross. Deep down we are still animals with animal instincts. Look at dogs, they sniff each other's asses. They will even eat another dog's stool. I've seen people on the internet that that are worse than dogs.
