Agreed, Chuck. I wasn't saying China has a positive interest in protecting DPRK's nuclear program. I was saying they won't tamp down on it because doing so would tamp down on the prestige jewel in the regime's crown, thereby increasing its ability to govern, and increasing the chances of a disaster on their northeastern border. And yes, I already pointed out the value of DPRK to China as a buffer state. China's interest in a Yalu River without American troops on the south bank has already once provoked armed intervention. I don't think they would do so again, but I could well be wrong on that score.
