For the first couple of centuries, Christians were very serious about peace. One of the problems they presented for the Romans was that legionnaires they converted would refuse to fight. I can't help but admire the discipline of their nonviolent resistance to the Romans. Essentially overcoming Rome seems to be a testament to their will, although that victory changed the character of the religion considerably. Religious purity is the first thing to go when it becomes entwined with government. Still, that commitment to nonviolence keeps popping up: the Albigensians, the Quakers, and others.

No it is not. Interfaith means "relating to or between different religions or members of different religions." In the context above, Christians are working with Jews to effect a greater good. It would be decidedly unchristian not to on the basis of "working with Jews"

But Jesus exhorted his followers to avoid associating with non-Jews, so, to that extent, working with Jews IS unChristian.

We had these people present in church last week as an example of Christianity in action--responding to the needs of the community.

They are pro-birthers, not pro-lifers. They'll help the woman thru the pregnancy, after delivery, they'll set the mother/child up with other community support. Pretty much sounds like their support stops after birth, as christ intended. 

According to the site the "counseling" is not free, They'll help bill insurance, get set up for medicaid, or offer sliding scale billing, as christ intended.

I'm confused as to what you think you are proving. I was trying to participate in a thread that was nice for a change. Besides, you are wrong again and again...

Mythology.  The Western Roman Empire lasted a century after jesusism became the state religion and 150 years after it was 'legalized' by the Edict of Milan.  They would have had  no trouble getting the legionaries to fight except Constantine had done away with the legion system.  Prior to the Edict of Milan it is estimated that no more than 5% of the population was xtian and even those were broken down into numerous sects all of which competed with each other far more than the pagans.

And the Eastern Roman Empire was xtian for a thousand years before it fell and was seemingly always fighting someone for that time.

And yes, not all, but most religious people are stupid. That's why they believe in stupid things that make no sense despite being supposedly adult.

I have nothing against religious people. Not all of them are morons. There are intelligent religious people.

But of course belief in utter ridiculousness is irrational.

I know virtually all threads here turn into a debate or go off topic rather quickly.

I'll just say that I think these threads from Bella are awesome.

Most atheists immediately take religion in a bad light and that's the type of press we automatically give it.

It's a breath of fresh air for something positive to be posted occasionally.
