I knew he was old, but I didn't know he was that old. Truth to tell, I didn't even know he was still alive. So I was rather surprised by the news.

Would it be fair to say that even my favorite genres of metal music wouldn't be what they are without him?

I think so, sure ... The Butterfly Effect, and all that.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I am in awe of this guy. Truthfully. I don't think he was that talented. There were so many others who were so much better but he invented the entire genre, an entire culture. None of the others would have come without him. It's like Gene Roddenberry and Star Trek. He penned some of the worst episodes but without him, the whole thing would not have existed.

Long live the legend of Chuck Berry! Rock and Roll, baby! You're legend will last at the least to the limit of human time.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
