How did u feel when you deconverted?

How did u feel when you deconverted?
When I left Islam I felt at first confusion, guilt, sadness, but I felt like all the heavy weight had been released from my shoulders.
-No more guilt for having sexual urges.
-I don't have to waste my time praying 5 times a day.
-I don't have to worry about the food being halal.
-I can drink alcohol and eat pork.
-I don't have to fast ramadan, I pretend to fast because in ramadan tastier food is prepared more than regular days and I wanna leave some space for it, but I sneak in water and small meals to carry on with my daily task, so I view ramadan as a social and cultural event.
-I treat people as individuals rather than their religious beliefs, I believe in egalitarianism.
-No more fear from Hell fire, for making ridiculous sins.
-And most importantly, I can think freely.

Never *really* decoverted suddenly I guess...

I didn't deconvert over night, It took sometime like a straws on the camel's back.
But what made me leave Islam was the scientific errors about the universe, and religion being geographical.

Or were your parents non-religious?

I can't really remember a specific moment... but I do remember being about 17 or 18 (which is when I truly started identifying as an atheist) and having a general feeling of relief and happiness.

I never really carried too much guilt for having sexual thoughts or "sinful" thoughts... but I definitely felt a weight lifted off my shoulders.
“Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.

It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love.

Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. Ingersoll

In hindsight, my mom was vaguely protestant and my dad a deist. The only times my parents would go to church was when performing music. I did however go through protestant confirmation with all those trappings such as sunday school, but mainly because in rural Germany it was expected from me as a cultural thing.

OP title: It remained tactile, mostly with my fingers and hands. If I got lucky it was with my tongue.

Having never really been a believer, I can't say that life changed much when I quit trying to believe.

Life didn't change much for me. I stopped feeling guilty about not reading the myths and legends of Hinduism.
