I wish I could chunder up a huge technicolour yawn all over the brain dead jerks who can't express themselves without uttering this inane and useless bit of verbal shit.
I'd like to do the same to all the lame brain dingbats who constantly call every fucking event where someone survives a misadventure as a miracle.Wink Shades

Hmm. I totally disagree. I've been an atheist for over thirty years and I still say, "Oh my god!", "Goddamnit", "Jesus Christ!", "Holy Shit!", Go To Hell!", and so on.

Why? Because the are common, everyday colloquialisms that hold no religious meaning anymore. In some ways, I support the use of such sayings in that manner, as it lessens the 'meaningfulness' of religion in every day life.

Stupid people will always say stupid things.

I'm afraid you're going to have to learn to live with it, mate.

Ah. I think I missed the point in my original response. People that give praise to their god when a disaster happens, because 12 people survived... irritate me to no end.

I hate the use of this expression too because it is a violation of the third commandment
Quote:You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
His invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Technically, wouldn't his name be Yahweh, or some other combination of the letters YHWH and vowels? And thus, wouldn't taking his name in vain be impossible by this point, except by accident? And why is a name so sacred? It's just a collection of letters and sounds that a culture thought pleasing enough that they decided to make it a name.

It is not a violation. If I say "Oh Goddamnit!" it served a purpose, it was not used in vain. Tongue

I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.
