Religious Freedom

RE: Religious Freedom
I don't think true belief is a choice, though. I can choose to believe in Thor, but that doesn't cause me to actually believe in Thor.

Yes, I agree. Many people say they believe there's a God, but it does not cause them to believe in God. To believe in anything one must take a serious look and understand what is there and then make a choice to or not to believe in something. If all the people who claim to believe there's a God and believe in Him this world would be a better place. What I mean by this is they would be living lives according to Christs teachings. Please note that I've responded to the subject and I'm not in anyway saying anything pro or con about nonbelievers.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Can I, if I wanted to, choose to believe that Thor is god and exists?

Sure you can, it's called lying to yourself.

And for most religion that is sufficient.

RE: Religious Freedom
There were plenty of "true christians" who would dispute that. You see, they were the ones carrying out the Inquisitions.

They would also have killed GC for disagreeing with them. In the name of God & all.
