Bill Nye Saves the World

Bill Nye Saves the World
So is anyone watching this?

I watched the first couple of episodes, and I really want to love it. I will watch the whole series because I love Bill Nye and grew up with "Bill Nye the Science Guy."

What does everyone think? It's on Netflix, released today.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Haven't seen this. I mainly follow his work with NdGT on StarTalk. I'm always torn when it comes to Nye. On the one hand I love his enthusiasm and space age engineer thing, on the other hand I sometimes find him annoying. He's sometimes trying too hard to be the expert on everything and not admitting when he's in over his head. I thought the debate with Ken Ham was a good idea, but I've heard experts being uncomfortable about his writing on subjects such as climate change without getting specialists on board.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

I'm more of a fan of Arthur Jeffries . . . .

Bill Nye is too late. The world has already made trump president and is thus no longer worth saving.

I just started on this. I hate the hokey jokes and live audience laughter, but I'm gonna try to see past that because I do love me some Bill Nye!

I know. Nye doesn't have an Italian neutrino on his show.

I just watched the first three. Fun stuff. It's Bill Nye almost for grown-ups. I think it will introduce healthy skepticism to more people.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

This has to be the dumbest show I've watched. It's a sad state of affairs this is meant for adult with "experts" who are so low level it's a joke to those in the know. Almost like this is a meant for those who are in state of extended adolescence. This is truly bizarre, especially since I've been told to watch this by some people lol

I love Bill, I really do, but it's like everything is dumbed down for stupid people. It's pop science.

I feel this way too.  It seems as though the goal is familiarize people with science related topics that have otherwise not been introduced to them before.  Unfortunately, that audience is likely not going to search for that kind of content.  Those of us who remember/know Bill Nye are going to largely be disappointed.

On a positive note... I watched a couple episodes with my son and he said "I like the one where he's younger better".  I then discovered that they show him Bill Nye the Science Guy in school - 2nd grade.  I'll give them points for that.

So, we switched off "...Saves the world" and watched some "...the Science Guy"
