Has anyone been to a funeral where the individual goes to hell?

My (then) brother-in-law earnestly informed me that he didn't know if my mother was right with God when she died. Piece of shit.

One of my great disappointments as an atheist was knowing there was no hell waiting for my older brother. There is no eternal justice, damn it.

My parents disowned my brother and me because we're gay.  My grandfather thought that they had behaved like assholes and welcomed us into his home. He was a wonderful, intelligent, gentle man - -  and I'm not just saying that because he was always kind, open, and understanding with me.  Everyone who knew him liked him.

He died in the late '90's.  The funeral was packed.  People were out on the front lawn, speakers were put on the porch of the church so folks could hear. My mother was there.  Did her usual thing and lost her freakin' mind.  Went around screaming at people about how he was burning in hell RIGHT THIS MINUTE!!! because he put up with sin.  The preacher tried to tell her that Jesus ate dinner with "sinners" and stayed with them in their homes.  She would have none of it.  The cops were called, she went to jail.  She was released to my Father's custody only after he promised to take her out of the town and never return.  

So, the preacher didn't say it, but we can always rely on my nutjob funditard mother.  She puts the "fun" in dysfunctional.

There are certain social graces that are understood and accepted during certain situations.

A funeral is one of those places where people may think a certain thing about the deceased yet keep their opinions to themselves while in that environment.

I am certainly of the belief that no place is safe from one's opinion, but I do understand the social constructs.

No. But i'm pretty sure i would find some humor in it, if the individual was condemned to hell in their own funeral. lol

I think it's more likely that there's a kind of mindset that thinks everyone repents at the last minute or whatever. Like on here, you can't even blaspheme to make a point without a Christian coming along and saying you didn't do it  So forever keeping the option to repent open, right until the last minute.

I think it's more an assumption on the part of Christians that everybody is in a state of grace, regardless of evidence to the contrary.

I think that's kind of what I meant Wish there was just some code word you could say to stop Christians trying to convert you, but there isn't... not even blasphemy against the holy spirit stops them, because otherwise they wouldn't have a job
