AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-May 3 to Whenever We're Not Fat Anymore
RE: AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-May 3 to Whenever We're Not Fat Anymore
Another fun fact - for every gram of glycogen (a metabolite of carbohydrate), 3-4 grams of water come along for the ride. I have discovered that altering carbohydrate intake can either trigger weight gain or loss far in excess of caloric intake. That's weight that you'll hold on to unless you burn off glycogen stores by reducing carbohydrate intake.

When I limit carbs to whole grains and limit even those, I definitely notice a difference.

I came out of the stall some time ago. I'm down to 238. I'm pretty much eating what I want as long as it's a tiny amount. I'm still limiting carbs and sugar but not completely avoiding them.

Non-scale victory: I am comfortable in my own skin, for the first time in a very long time.

I just realized when this thread or the one before it started, I weighed about 350 pounds. I haven't always been in this thread but it's always been here for support and accountability, and I thank all of you for that.

My weight fluctuates because I love simple carbs and have very sweet tooth..

Also have type 2 diabetes, so really need to avoid refined carbs of all kinds. Easier said than did.

My average weight is 88kg (193 lbs) currently 90 kg (198 lbs) . My goal weight is 75 kg. (165 lbs) Haven't ben near that for over 5 years.

Losing weight is simple enough, as long as I don't try go on some diet. They don't work for me. Theo only thing which works for me the lifestyle diet that a dietician at the diabetes clinic worked out for me when I was first diagnosed . It's actually very simple; it's only a healthy diet. I REALLY don't need ANY white sugar or white flour in my diet. I DO need lots of fruit and vegetables. Simple it may be, but I find it very hard to undo a life time of poor eating habits. I HAVE managed to avoid fast food for about 30 years. Not for diet, I just thinks it's rubbish, and truly not fi for human consumption.

228 this morning, 10 weeks and a day post VSG. I haven't been this weight since my 20s - I'm in my 50s. BMI 31, only one point away from being merely overweight (217 lbs). Down to 36 waist jeans (snug, but 38s no longer fit), XL t-shirt, and L briefs.

I now "pass" for a person of normal weight. I've noticed that the average rando treats me differently - for example, it seems most people don't want to sit next to a very obese person on the bus or train. It used to happen almost never, now it happens almost every trip.

The diet prescribed to me is probably really similar to yours, though I am not diabetic. The USDA recommended diet is a bad joke compared to that diet: too low in protein, and way too high in carbohydrate and calories. They claim my maintenance calorie requirements are 2800 calories now; I can say with certainty that it *was* closer to 2000 - when I weighed 300 - and I have food logs to prove it.

For sure! I know I have to drastically reduce to lose or maintain. A 2,500/day diet would make me overweight.
