RE: Bugs Bunny
He's following a script. Unfortunately, we know the plot already.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

What does your teeth problem, or any human problem, have to do with any devil? People don't need a devil to treat others like shit.

Quote:I believe that God wants to heal lives, to bring rest peace and joy to people. I am also a person who believes that God will reach into any situation, to find the good in us. As a human I often look at the negatives, but God at the positives. The reason why each of us has breath is due to the fact that God still sees some good in us all.

No evidence to suggest the Christian, or related, God exists. So why even refer to such a being? It would be more intellectually honest to say we (fortunately) continue to live because nothing has killed us yet.

Quote:So why the soppy story? Well I want to offer some thing. I believe God wants to be involved in each of your lives, no matter how strongly you feel he is not there, wrong, ignorant of you etc.

And I believe this is misguided thinking on your part and not based on conclusive evidence. It's easy to state beliefs without evidence.

Quote:I have made some claims in some other posts that God has answered prayers that have been prayed. I want to reach out to you in some form of blessing. To pray that God would show his great love for you.

Confirmation bias. Heard of it? God isn't needed for coincidences to occur, and chances are you are overlooking a lot of misses in favor of hits. What about unanswered prayers?

Quote:If you have any need in your life I ask you would you be willing to lift it up to God, to just see what he is willing to do for you.

No, not anymore. Even if I still believed the Christian, or related, God did exist, I would still not submit to him because I couldn't ever acknowledge a being like him as a loving being.

Quote:So just to get the discussion going is there anything that you think God would be please of in your life?

That, I do not know, nor do I care. I don't even care about what my human father finds pleasing about me. An abusive and/or neglectful parent (or parent figure) is worth no such care.

I was an open and active believer my whole life until I was about 25, but never gained a shred of personal evidence for all of it. Now what?

Me too! Also lost faith around the same age.

Sorry, dude. The whole prayer thing is a scam. Sad as it sounds, it's a scam. Think about iit.
East and North Africa haven't  had a good harvest in about three years. This has caused more than 200,000 people to starve to death. Now you can pray for them. Let's suppose the drought is healed after you pray, coincidentally. You can claim it was due to your prayers if you like, but does that mean your god allowed more than 200,000 people to die of starvation because you didn't pray in time?

Let's take it to a smaller scale. My little ol" town is shaken right now because there was a three car collision recently that took the life of a woman and left her ten month old baby in critical condition at the hospital. A 17 year old girl was on her cellphone and caused this accident. One of the injured people was my coworker. She fractured her back and hasn't been walking since. Her whole family prayed for her. She's alive! Broken, but alive. I have several protests to her family's claims "God is good all the time and all the time god is good". They're suggesting he saved her life. Why couldn't he save her in one piece? Ya know, do the favor in whole while he's at it. Also, why save her and not the other woman? Is my coworker more important? Did the other woman not have enough prayers on her side? Ah, there's a reason for everything and the god works in mysterious ways.

Then... why pray? If he already knows his plan and whether or not he'll do the thing or not, why bother?

Is all.

How irritating. That's a quote from that fucking movie "God is not dead".

If prayer works, why is Madeleine McCann still missing and most likely dead? Remember that her parents made a point to be seen visiting prayer groups many times and even got an audience with the fucking pope. "God's" own lieutenant on Earth.

Why has "God" stayed silent this whole decade?

Actually, I've been hearing that quote long before the movie. People even sing it. How comfortable. Things go well, the god is good. They go bad, he's still good. Don't question it. He knows what he's doing. I find it so disrespectful and insensitive sometimes.

In response to OP's question;

I think YHWH (that's the one you're talking about right?) would appreciate my aesthetic obsession with the Christian cross (though preferably minus the half naked Middle Eastern hunk, I like em better alive and not bleeding). I have considered getting several tattoos of it. I have multiple jewelry items with it that I wear constantly. I don't know why, it's just pretty. "He" likes that kinda thing, right?

Unfortunately for you, dear, I don't believe in a god.

"The only position that leaves me with no cognitive dissonance is atheism. It is not a creed. Death is certain, replacing both the siren-song of Paradise and the dread of Hell. Life on this earth, with all its mystery and beauty and pain, is then to be lived far more intensely: we stumble and get up, we are sad, confident, insecure, feel loneliness and joy and love.
There is nothing more; but I want nothing more."

Just consider if you're wrong and there is no god... then all you've done is create a fictional entity in your mind that makes you feel good because you have low self-esteem. I think I had a similar thing going on when I was a Christian... the whole 'personal relationship with Jesus' thing... and I'm pretty sure that's the motivation of a few people I know; feeling inferior/unloved in the world and for that reason I think it would be particularly hard for them to lose. But I just see it as self-medication... that never deals with the underlying issues. Much better to learn about psychology, introspect, and/or get therapy to deal with your self-esteem issues and deal with the underlying problems.

Brilliant and true.

People need to feel connected.  If they don't get an adequate amount of that from other living things, they will invent what they need.

Also, I'm insulted the OP assumes we never tried to find God.  The fact is the majority of people here spent time as sincere believers, suffering while deeply seeking God and finding nothing.  Common assumption though, the fault must lie in us, of course.  Dodgy

So because your parents could afford good dental care for you, god is the best thing since sliced bread? Forgive me for not immediately kneeling down and proclaiming his glory, but I've more productive things to do with my time, like scratching my arse.
