So I am relaxing at my parents' house in Florida after my NOLA bachelor party extravaganza.

We got in Thursday night staying at the Astor Crowne Plaza on Canal and Bourbon St. We were going to take the first night and go easy, 'scope the place out.' This was, apparently, code for, "Go Buckwild."

We started by cracking open a bottle of The Balvenie Portwood. It's a 21 year old single malt, $200 bottle. It was fucking incredible.

We then went for dinner. We stopped at Felix's Oyster house, and proceeded to have some of the best oysters I have ever experienced. I have only ever eaten raw oysters, but this place had an open flame grill with some sort of breading sent from the gods to make the grilled oysters just incredible. My main dish was crawfish étoufée, which was really good.

The bachelor wanted to see what the strip club we had chosen had to offer. The Penthouse New Orleans is the best in the city, and we specifically chose that one. We stayed for a while, dropped a little money, and then left to see what Bourbon St had to offer. The bachelor is already married (long story involving a surprise wedding) so he couldn't get lap dances, but was content to watch all of us get bewboozled. Here he is about to make my buddy David (the most awkward, nebbish Jew of all time) be awkward around a very hot stripper.

We then proceeded to go into all the strip clubs in NOLA. Rick's Cabaret, Scores (which we immediately left upon getting to our table and discovering a jizz stain on one of the chairs), Rick's Saloon, Thin Lizzie's. Literally all of them. And none were as good as Penthouse. We would return to Penthouse every fucking night. I saw too many boobies.

After we toured bourbon (drinking at every establishment), we decided to also "scope out" the casino. Craig (the bachelor) literally lost $40 at a gimmick slot machine before all 8 of us made it through casino security. He then lost $260 more at roulette and a Poker table game before he abruptly got up and declared that he had drunk too much and needed to get to the hotel with the quickness. On the way to the hotel, we made direct eye contact with a college aged girl peeing in the street.

Next day, we got up and had Chicory Coffee and Beignets at Café Beignet. This was a transcendent experience.

After breakfast, we walked to the World War II national museum on the other side of the Warehouse District for some incredible exhibits. They had a Nazi propaganda exhibit on loan from the Holocaust Museum that was especially worrisome. The displays they had at this museum were just epic.

That night, we went to the Waldorf Astoria Roosevelt Room for Sazeracs, which are a famous whisky drink that was invented there. Very good.

Back to the strip club we went. We stayed a long time this night. To end the night, we walked down to the other end of the French Quarter to Frenchman St to see some live Jazz.

The last day was all about fancy food and drinks. We started the day off with Coffee and Beignets at Café du Monde, which is the original beignet place. They are so busy all the time that the pre-make and bag the beignets. This is why we went to Café Beignet first, because they make them to order. Even though you could tell that the beignets had sat for a bit, they were still, IMO, better.

We then walked up the riverfront to Compère Lapin for brunch.

Chef Nina Compton (runner up on Top Chef) was incredible, and came out and talked to us. I had the best Bloody Mary I've ever had (included a spicy green chile vodka.) For food, I had a Tuna Tartare bagel with chile spread and wasabi aioli, then a Black Truffle Fonduta with a poached egg and toasted ciabatta.

We went back to the casino, and the bachelor made all of his money back and then some playing blackjack and another, better poker table game. I lost about $75 playing the same game and craps, but I played and drank for like 5 hours so I consider it worth it.

Our fancy dinner was at Lüke, a John Besh restaurant. It was incredible. We all shared a bunch of appetizers, ranging from stuffed oysters to chicken and rabbit liver pâté to a roasted quail. I had a seafood gumbo with oysters, crawfish, shrimp, and pork belly, and my main course was a ribeye that was the best steak I've ever had. We ended with cappuccino and bread pudding with pecan sauce and vanilla ice cream that was life changing.

Here is the whole crew at the Roosevelt:

I drove back to Florida to enjoy the rest of my spring break. Reunited with my boy at last. Missed the Nanners.

Lmao as the wife I would have been more mad about him losing so much money not the lap dance.
