Lexy was born 9-28-15.
Here she is at 5 days and 5 inches.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.
So yesterday, despite a sore throat, I went out with my two photographer friends to practice posing and lighting techniques that they learned at a large photo conference recently.
While most people seem stuck on their own physical appearance as being the reason they don't feel photogenic, they often forget to factor in a couple things: 1) you are 3d. A photo is 2d. When you're seen in 3d space, everyone can see the shades and nuances of your build and musculature and bone structure. The camera doesn't translate that as well, which is why it seems it adds that famous "10 lbs". What you often have to do instead is pose in rather uncomfortable positions to keep yourself from looking like you have double chins and all that. Or, contouring make up. 2) People are so familiar with their own faces they almost forget what they actually look like. What I learned from the session is that regardless of how I stick my chin out, I'm always scrunching it and my mouth up in a half-way ironic smile, because I don't know how to relax my face when someone else is taking the photo...especially if I enjoy being a brat to them. But the rest of the session was cool - I learned how to pose people's arms and bodies for both men and women, and how to use a reflector and diffused flash in the shade. Also, I am Little Bunny Friggin' Foo Foo (we were out in the dark practicing light-painting photos with sparklers)
Wow! That first one's amazing!

Cool! Definitely got that one eyebrow thing working.

Ahh, is there anything more adorable than baby animals?? I need a new kitten to post pictures of lol.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

SummerQueen, I like that first picture of you a lot. I have a very similar one that my husband took of me one year ago. Side glance head shot with hair kinda blowing in the breeze. Classic!

It's funny that you say it's hard for you to relax your face in posed pictures like this, because I have the exact same problem! If I'm in a natural setting and having fun and I do a quick smile for the photo (such as my avatar) I look fine. But in the one above my jaw and lips are kinda tensed up. That's pretty much all I see when I look at this picture lol. I don't know if it's something that only we notice on ourselves, or if others can see it too.
