Oh look, it's my vile husk, displayed to all! Wasn't expecting that. Tongue

Anyway, yes: I'm in Australia, and Luckie's in America, but the days of that being so are numbered.

Great
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

A long distance internet relationship? Those almost never end in disaster.

Somehow, I hope their reunion to be something like "the scary movie" ending. For my own sanity Big Grin

Okay, I see. That's pretty fantastic.

See, I was pretty heavily involved with a lady in Australia myself, a couple of years back. Even went to visit for a couple of weeks, and was making plans to move there. I hope it works out much better for the two of you than it did for me, but it was far from a total loss. I had a great time while I was there, and it was awesome seeing a new continent and experiencing things like losing an entire day going over and seeing the sun rise twice in the same day going back. The best of luck to both of you!

You can count me as one of those who tried an intercontinental relationship with an Australian. We met eleven years ago in Paris and he proposed in Vienna two weeks later (how romantic! Whatta fairy tale!). I had a semester left of college, so we went back to our respective countries before he came to the States for a month to meet my family and before I headed to Melbourne. Between the fact that my grant money for grad school at UM fell through and we were fighting constantly (he liked me to be at home- I like to explore), it didn't work out. People are different on vacation than they are in real life. Also, he really wanted to get married (we kind of had to) and (gasp!) have babies, so we realized pretty quickly we weren't going to work out. I was there on a tourist visa for three months, went to NZ by myself for a week, back to Melb for a month, and amid a lot of yelling and crying, we decided I would go home. Seems like Luckie and Esqui have a little bit of a better grasp on communication than my ex and I did. My best advice (although you probably already know this- and it's completely unsolicited) is to dot your i's and cross your t's really well. Tourist visas aren't long-term and once you get to Oz on one, it's really hard to switch it out for something else. Good luck to you guys Smile

I am kind of surprised at how good looking some of the men and women on here are. Somehow the shield of the internet makes me assume people are fugly but many times it turns out to not be the case.
