RE: Michael Jackson
Quote:But, if he really was a pedophile (a child molester, even), does this actually mean it's okay to dismiss his body of work?

Yes, it totally is. Anyone can either dismiss it or enjoy it. That's 100% a personal decision. I don't in general make choices on the art I consume based on the personal life of the artist, but I can totally understand someone who believes he is a child molester not listening to his music. While he was alive, why would they want to contribute to his riches? Now that he's dead, why would they want to be reminded of what they think he's done? Your post makes it seem like we'd have no good art if it weren't for bad people, but there are plenty of great artists who aren't pedophiles. We'd be just fine without them. That said, Smooth Criminal is a fucking awesome song, if you can get the implication out of your head long enough to listen to it.

I guess I only wonder how he never managed to put Stallone in any of his music videos. I mean in "Liberian Girl" he had like every icon of the 80s (even Carl Weathers who was pretty much of "Rocky" fame and Brigitte Nielsen who was Sly's wife), but not Stallone, although even MJ's image of the time also included belt that was probably inspired by Rocky.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I want to learn more about Michael Jackson. Anyone have good info about this talented legend?

Billy Jean was apparently not his son.

Or his Lover to be accurate
I was a born-again christian for many years then I got woke.. and now life is better in so many ways. It's taking me time to see my value and find my voice, but the reward is liberating knowing my path is not dictated or controlled by fear of death and the unknown.  Casting off the shackles of religion is pretty fucking awesome. The beautiful people I've met on this forum have more heart and compassion than any group of people I've been apart of. So back off Jesus and followers, because this bitch is done with Chu.  Shy

All these years I thought it was son. I guess I was too busy grabbing my crotch and moonwalking to pay close attention to the lyrics.

I don't really know much about him beyond his music and the controversy that surrounded him.
