The Official Television Thread
RE: Otter's Official Television Thread
I watched Reacher on Amazon Prime. It was enjoyable. I loved the character of Rosco, and Reacher was a better character than in the Tom Cruise movies.

Downloaded the first season of Around The World In 80 Days so that I can watch it at my leisure. PBS is getting as bad as streaming services in trying to monetize their content.

Just finished ‘Our Flag Means Death’ (HBO), loosely based on the life of Stede Bonnett, who, in 1717, abandoned his life as a wealthy aristocrat in Barbados to become a pirate. Very good, especially the story line about a sexually confused Blackbeard who is having a life crisis over his choice of career. Funny stuff.

I've been watching a new TV series called "From". And so far it's interesting.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Watched a Stephen Fry one-off special called, ‘Fantastic Beasts: A Natural History’. He explores the naturalistic inspirations for mythological creatures - dragons, mermaids, the Kraken, and so on.

It was interesting enough, though pretty superficial (there’s only so much you can cover in sixty minutes). I’d like to see a series of these, each an hour long and focused on a single creature.

I've been watching "Schmigadoon" and they have a rather interesting take on "The Sound of Music" wouldn't you say?

PBS has a series of short films called "Monstrum," hosted by Prof. Emily Zarka. They are not an hour long though, usually anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. You can find full episodes on PBS, Amazon, and Youtube.
