Im so sorry for your loss. Some deaths are harder then others. I have chosen not to go to some funerals because of the people that were going to be there and I don't regret it. I know in my heart I loved this person and whatever people think of me for not attending I don't seem to be affected by. If you want to go for yourself go. But don't do it if mourning at home with your boyfriend is more desirable. She sounds like a beautiful influence and comfort in your life. I lost my Gramma 5 years ago and still think of her daily. The heartache has started to become longing to not forget her. she was my favorite person in the world and I see her influence on me and my kids everyday.
I was a born-again christian for many years then I got woke.. and now life is better in so many ways. It's taking me time to see my value and find my voice, but the reward is liberating knowing my path is not dictated or controlled by fear of death and the unknown.  Casting off the shackles of religion is pretty fucking awesome. The beautiful people I've met on this forum have more heart and compassion than any group of people I've been apart of. So back off Jesus and followers, because this bitch is done with Chu.  Shy

I am sorry about your loss, please be tough and know you are not alone.

As for the funeral, the dead are gone, and I personally attend funerals not for them but for the people there who could use my support. There is no need for you to feel sorry for not attending a social gathering which might hurt you more
