I've never understood idolatry of athletes. Spectator Sports: the only thing other than religion that's so blatantly anti-intellectual on every level. Who gives a shit what these people think? We certainly don't admire them for their intelligence!
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

Lots of people who gain fame sometimes use it to promote other agendas they feel strongly about.
Most times it's a good thing. In this instance, it backfired catastrophically for her reputation as an Australian.

But why should anyone expect anything intelligent or meaningful to come out of their mouths? What a warped mentality. Then again, even some people with Ph.D's are creationists...
