In Defense of God.

RE: In Defense of God.
Cart-men.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

So now we're waiting until some guy named David becomes leader of Israel, and crowns himself king?

IANMTU, the Mormons have been caught red handed retconning prophecies to make them true.

They forget publishing original versions of prophecies in official church publications (which people have an unfortunate tendency to keep) and then when the prophecy misses the mark, they update it to fit and issue the revised version, without, of course, noting they are fudging the rules on prophesizing.

If they are stupid enough to be a mormon in the first place they probably won't notice.

There are no rules. You can just make a prophesy after the event takes place and it still counts!! Panic

God controls your life through death and life.
He makes you dead or alive.

That's not really all that representative of what god believers believe..either about themselves or god, and there's certainly no need for that to be true for there to -be- a god.

The birds and the bees suffices, even in faith, for an explanation of what "makes you dead or alive" - and we're not going to find many believers who maintain that god personally orchestrates every grizzly murder.

Fixed that for you:

"God controls your life through death. He makes  you dead."
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

Where did the southern Baptist ministers get God's mobile? They seem to have him on speeddial.

Actually, now that I think about it, I'm suspecting God has outsourced his services to them.

People believe whatever they want.
Deciding what is right and wrong depends on the person.

God made the gruesome deaths and sad events a reality. Allowing for them to happen will make us question the limits of power and control he has.

Believers who think he isn't responsible, just directed a slap to the concept of creation.
A God who isn't responsible is a weak God.

But creating it and putting a huge mark of warning over it, is so different from making it happen.

Colt made guns. But it's serial killers who shot the child; not Colt.

Logically; it's wrong to think he is the cause. But at the same time; he created it; put it in his test; warned people from it.

"Creator" is a big word. Everything is his creation; after all. Even eating and going to the toilet.

As there is a sky there is land. Defined what anger is; what virtue is; what sin is.
There's a scale if you thought about it; if death and misery was his lone creation then yes; he's a prick. But mercy was also of his creations.

Lions exist; but cubs and homecats also exist.

Ish and ofc, respectively.

Quote:God made the gruesome deaths and sad events a reality. Allowing for them to happen will make us question the limits of power and control he has.
While you may choose to believe this, it's definitely not something that every believer believes in, nor is it a logical necessity of god, nor does this have to be true for there to be a god.

Quote:Believers who think he isn't responsible, just directed a slap to the concept of creation.
A God who isn't responsible is a weak God.
I'm not sure why you would choose to believe that..but for many, a god that is not responsible for grizzly murders is, at least on that count, a just god.  In any case, a "weak" god...is still a god.

Quote:But creating it and putting a huge mark of warning over it, is so different from making it happen.
Okay?

Quote:Colt made guns. But it's serial killers who shot the child; not Colt.
Sure, but in the case of many peoples beliefs, god isn't colt, in the analogy, so it's just not relevant to their god concept.  God didn't make the guns, or shoot the people.  There's certainly no requirement that god made the guns or shoot people in order to be a god..and just as before, none of what you've said has to be true for there to be a god.  If a god exists, the just god of many peoples beliefs, who is not responsible for murders, who neither makes the guns nor shoots people...or even a "weak" god might exist.

Quote:Logically; it's wrong to think he is the cause. But at the same time; he created it; put it in his test; warned people from it.
You'll have to unwind your own tangle on that one though, wouldn't you agree?  Since it's your unique belief in some personal god that you're discussing?  It's just not a problem for anyone who doesn't believe in the kind of god you believe in, and it's certainly not a problem for god, if a god exists.
