It is just absolutely freaking amazing at the 180 degree shift on adultery I have seen during just my lifetime in this country from the religious folks.

Adultery, divorce, remarriage, VERBOTEN !!  It was all established moral law, if you will.  A societal norm and bedrock principal of day to day family life. [period]

I had no classmates, K-12 living with a divorced/remarried parent(s) while I was growing up.  It was unheard of.  I know I have cited Princess Margaret's statement on Group Captain Townsend in the early 60s, and that was just the way things were*.  People didn't think about that being an option.  And in just a few decades, it has gone from rare rare rare, to as common as common can be.

And leading the way; CHRISTIANS !!!   Why in the holy fuck would they change something so BIG, so FAST ???  And not strip their mental gears doing it ???

*People today reading about the 'affair' are confused and bewildered.  They think there was skullduggery afoot to deprive Princess Margaret of her choice of spouse!!  There was no skullduggery at all, it was an OPEN SCANDAL!  Laid bare for the world to see.  Same with Edward and Wallis, people have no idea marital vows were EVER taken seriously!!

On the subject of divorce, isn't it only bad if a woman remarries, since a man is permitted to have as many wives as he wants?
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

The "ten commandments" are not apart of the christian doctrine... if christians did read their god damn bible they would realize they were destroyed when moses came down the mountain and the laws were lost and nullified after that.
According to the biblical fairy tale that's not true.

The Ten Commandments people try to pass off as the real ones are in Exodus chapter 20.  Those were just verbal laws and were never written on stone tablets.  Later on Moses got some laws written on stone tablets that he broke but those were not called the Ten Commandments either.

In Exodus chapter 34 Moses got the Ten Commandments written on stone tablets and those are the ones called the Ten Commandments.   These are highly ethnocentric, which is why everyone (even the Pope) tries their damnedest to ignore them.  Not too many people want to break a donkey's neck in modern day America.

In Exodus chapter 34 Moses got the Ten Commandment stone tables on Mount Sinai.

In Deuteronomy chapter 5 Moses got another set of stone tablets at Mount Horeb.  They were not called the Ten Commandments.

Then in Deuteronomy chapter 27 Moses gets another set of stone tablets white-washed with lime that he was to place on Mount Ebal.  Those tablets had twelve (12) curses on them.  They were not the Ten Commandments.

So what was all that shite about Jeebus saying all the old laws were still to be obeyed?

People like to ignore Yeshua on that little gem and all of the other ones as well.  They simply love making idols of him, which is a big no-no.

Statistically almost all Americans have had premarital sex. A majority of Americans are Christians so it seems likely most Chrisian adults have committed the sin of fornication. Not that I care, I just find it funny. Actually I wonder if a majority of Christians ever did abstain. I mean it  is normal to want to have sex.

Princess Margaret, mindful of the churches teachings, did in regards to Group Captain Townsend.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Well they may be terrible at lying to others but they're excellent at lying to themselves.

What is the obsession in the USA with putting 10 commandment monuments everywhere? You guys gave us George Carlin and he shredded that BS most convincingly!!

Is it a constitutional thing that the fundies want to overturn by putting this shit everywhere they can?

Really not a thing over here, to the best of my knowledge.

I remain amazed at rarely folks look at them.  With Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish versions around, one might think folks would agitate for at least displaying the CORRECT version if they're to be displayed at all.
