Of course, people will actually have to buy it. But such a device is a fantastic idea from someone so young, and it's good to see he's got a prototype.

I hope he has a successful career. I maybe jumping the gun a little, but could this eleven year old be the next great inventor?

Attaboy for the 11 year old !!
Babies that expire in hot cars are totally unsuitable for pediatric sashimi.

Something for bad parents to make their negligence non-lethal? If they're that senseless in the first place, they're not going to buy that. How about something for when they leave the kids alone in the tub? Or that calls 911 when the parents don't take their kid to the doctor because they're too busy praying? You can't make child safety idiot-proof. Especially if you can't convince the parents who pull this unthinking crap that they're terrible at the most important job they have.
Does the device do anything for when someone leaves their dog in a hot car? Might as well make it multipurpose and expand their market.

Rather than a special device, a simple solution is to use a visual cue by leaving one's cell phone in the back seat next to the kid. A lot of parents will miss their cell phone before realizing their kid is mistakenly left in the back seat, sadly.
I've never come remotely close to accidentally leaving my kid in the car but some parents make tragic mistakes, unfortunately.
