Yes, you heard me! All autonomous cars are religious! hehe
OK, like the other thread about evolutionary fine tuning, I couldn't help wondering about the way they program autonomous vehicles.
How do they program for non standard conditions?
eg: a cesna has engine damage and is about to do an emergency landing on the road in front of you. It is currently still 50 feet in the air. You autonomous car (with no steering wheel) is completely oblivious to this pending disaster. The plane and the car collide killing everyone. Who is to blame and why?
scenario #2
A man was crossing the road and was hit by the car 100m in front of you. He is still alive but lying on the road. How will your autonomous car react?
Will it determine that it is a human and pull over so you can help? Will it skid at the last minute and kill him properly! and keep driving?
Obviously, you're unaware of all this as you're in the back seat catching up on Game of thrones on your ipad...
I'd love to know how they prioritise who's life to risk in an unforseen circumstance.
EG, In India, will the car swerve wildly and risk killing the occupants to avoid hitting a lazy arse cow crossing the road?
Can car programs be hacked to run over Mormons automatically between 10:00am and noon every Sunday?
