Did he happen to say why or what about it was trash? Otherwise it just sounds like the kind of bias that proves the point Dawkins was making.

No bias. He started reading it specifically because he was being open minded and objective, and wanted to see things from the "other side's" perspective. So he asked one of his atheist friends for a recommendation and that was it. Don't remember specifically what turned him off to it, as it was several years ago now. I'll have to ask.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Thank you. I'd sure like an outsider's perspective on objective facts.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

I'm not catholic, but 20 years ago I bought Dawkins 'Climbing Mt Improbable' because I wanted to hear what the current cutting-edge scientific thinkng was, and I was disappointed because instead of a neat explanation of evolution every step of the way, there were holes, guesses, hunches and missing links in nearly every chapter!
I wrote to Dawkins about it and he was kind enough to reply, saying "Of course there are missing links".
In other words he was admitting that the theory of evolution is by no means as cut-and-dried as he and some other scientists like to make out..Smile

Words fail me.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Really? Because a theist's lack of reading comprehension (they can't even understand their own holy books, for fuck's sake) should not surprise anyone at this point.

That I get. It's the blatant pride in it that gives me a sad.

Well, when you're dumb, something like religion can make you feel smart, you just have to convince yourself it's true (not really worth the trade-off IMO) otherwise even the dumb will think it's shite.

Jesus said straight out he was an alien with awesome powers, so wouldn't we be a little bit dumb to dismiss him out of hand?
Being killed seems to be an occupational hazard for alien visitors..Smile-

They all have something else in common. Can you tell the rest of the boys and girls what it is?

Here's a clue: it rhymes with (that means it sounds like) "diction".
