Is the fear of irrational fears rational?

RE: Is the fear of irrational fears rational?
What if you have only an extreme wariness of irrational fears? Is that rational?
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

Irrational fears are undesirable. A fear of something as undesirable as irrational fears would make sense xD

Most "irrational" fears do have rational basis to them though, biologically.

Fears of certain animals (like spiders and snakes) is a defense mechanism our ancestors developed in a time where we lived among wild animals, who were more dangerous to us then. Fear of heights is a natural fear of falling.

There are some bizarre ones though I guess. Not sure why I'm scared of tall buildings (but not heights generally)

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

(Not disagreeing, just piggybacking on what you're saying)

I'm not sure it isn't a category error to refer to fear in terms of rationality.

Fear is a psychological response to stimuli from a perceived threat. It's not a product of logic, or reason - neither of those is used as a filter for that fear response.

Well, some fears are in accord with reality. I fear tigers because they might kill me. I fear big waves because they might drown me. Even though the emotion of fear is not a rational thing, most of our fears are in accord with actual danger.

An irrational fear would be one that is either at odds with what we can know logically, or is out of scale with what we can know logically. Saying "irrational fear" is a shorthand expression.

I realize it's a shorthand expression. I think it's important to realize that "(ir)rational" is seemingly being used in two different senses in the subject (the first the shorthand version, the second meaning "in accordance with reason").

But if a person is convinced that there is a God, does that make their fear rational? If I truly thought there was an entity that controlled whether I would burn in Hell or not, it'd certainly be rational to fear that entity. The belief in the entity itself is irrational, but if we accept the premise of God, then a fear of God under that premise is rational.

God invites us ALL to that great party in the sky like Jesus said-
"The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son...he told his servants- go out and invite to the banquet anyone you find" (Matt 22:2)

What's to "fear" about that? People don't have to come if they don't want to..Smile
And Jesus said he'll be drinking wine with his mates in heaven.
That's me out then, I don't drink (sniffle)

If we play the game of Bible quotes when it comes to this, I think you'll lose.
