How have you beat it to death? You can always play AoE2 with me sometime, I have both the original and the Steam version

I've just got to the point where I know the way to beat the game ~75%  of the time for certain and the rest it's a toss-up. There are times when the AI has a suspicious amount of resources...

I can beat any non-cheating AI besides Barbarian AI which I can beat occasionally but that AI is strong as hell (and only for Userpatch). The original "computer" AI cheats for resources on hardest... but that one is still easy as fuck even with the cheats.

When I lose to Barbarian AI I know why I lost though, it still makes some classic AI mistakes... like suiciding units too much but it does it far less than the other AIs. And it doesn't just lure boars.... it can steal enemy boars with its scout.... it can delete wall tiles in arena so it can get a villager out to lure a boar and then it can fill the tile back in.... and it can lure deer with its scout. It plays like a human, almost.

Barbarian AI was made by TheMax.... a world class arena player who has beat TheViper (who is considered the best AoE2 player in the world right now) on Arena before.

When you find the AI too easy, play multiplayer!

Or get your ass kicked by Barbarian AI. And if you can't beat it, play it on a lower difficulty. You may find your niche. It's a fantastic AI. It only cheats on hardest. It should destroy you on hard without cheats (only thing is it can't play migration maps... but no AIs can do that yet).

Snagged it even though I played the shit out of it when it was newer. It's a fantastic game, althouhj the AI is a bit lackluster. I dig reducing settlements to rubble with naval or terrestrial cannot or trubuchets backed by ranged and infantry unit. Epic sea battles are epic.

I only played multiplayer once years ago. Got pwned by a kid.

The AI isn't lackluster anymore. It can lure boars and Barbarian AI on Userpatch can steal your boar with a scout...

I can only beat Barbarian AI sometimes. It's like 1750 rated or some shit.

Even the basic AoE2 HD AI is wayyyy more advanced and destroys the original AI (which is still available under"Original AI" instead of "AI.") But I can still pwn that easy on hardest.

I'm probably like one of those "kids" online to you though I'm one of those dudes who plays someone who is new to online and when they resign the entire map is covered in my buildings and units and I have taken all the resources and was at 200 population limit ages ago and they are like "How?!?!?" The blissful thing about it is not that I'm very good at the game...... I'm not. I'm average for an online player. I have like 101 wins and 99 losses on rated.

No, the blissful thing about it is I remember reacting exactly the same way when I'd resign when I started out and I remember thinking "I'll never be that good." Now I am "that good" I realize I'm just average
