So, this is how you've decided to spend Sunday, CatholicDefender?

I think the Catholic clerics were deceived.

Keep in mind the Holocaust did not start to happen until 1941 or so.

Hitler even did some admirable things according to the Church.

1. He shut down the lustful filthy Berlin nightclub scene. Before the Big H came on the scene Berlin was a den of filth and sin, with hookers, drag shows and "gay" clubs being all the rage. Watch "Cabaret" to get the full story.

2. He helped Franco rise to power. Unlike Mussolinni or Hitler, I actually think Franco was pretty decent. He helped impose Catholic morality on Spain and stop from becoming an iron curtain country (which those bolshevik/communsits would have certainly done.

3. He helped the poor. He helped Germany stop being so poor and gave all "gentile" Germans jobs.

If the Church had known about the gas chambers etc, they would have been up in arms. But sadly they did not.

Even as such many Catholics opposed Hitler.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_resistance_to_Nazi_Germany

Did you not know that a Roman Catholic came very very close to killing Der Fuhrer?

This man was extraordinary and I hope he becomes a saint:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claus_von_Stauffenberg

Hitler was as Catholic as any of the popes were. You must have had some 'shrooms in that Kool-Aid™ you drank.

Is the Pope Catholic?

The Catholic Church approved the rearmament of Germany in the 1930's contrary the the Versailles Treaty. Contrary to the teaching of Jesus , meek and mild.
Catholic Church signed a concordant with Hitler in 1933.
Catholic Church never spoke out against the boycott of Jewish businesses or the Nuremberg racial laws.
The Church stayed silent over Kristallnacht.
The church provided the Nazis with genealogical records. Proving , at least, who was a non-jew.
Catholic Church defended and supported the Ustachi regime and absolved the Vichy regime.
The Church was aware of the extermination policy of 1942. No condemnation.
The Church ordered a requiem mass for Hitler.
Catholic Church smuggled war criminals out of Europe.
Pius XII excommunicated every communist in the world in 1949. They never excommunicated Hitler or his staff.
They banned books (The Index) by Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir but never added Mein Kampf to the list.
Hitler told Goering and Goebbels to remain , as he would, Catholics to their dying day. A conversation witnessed and recorded by Albert Speer.

The list goes on and on.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

RE: How Catholic was Hitler?
Let's start with Hitler's quotes
[Image: ifHkB8pC.png]

He also went to Church on regular basis.

And also every soldier of Wehrmacht wore this buckle on their belt saying "God is with us"

And it's not just Hitler but many of the world's greatest mass murderers were born and raised Catholic like Heinrich Himmler and Rudolf Höss, to mention only a few. Also the extermination of the Jews took place on the largely Catholic continent of Europe. The small number of Catholic rescuers are obscured by the mountain of evil cast over them by Catholic perpetrators. Whether adversely or kindly disposed toward Jews, most Catholics played no role at all during the Holocaust. Their church was a sleeping giant that awoke too late to exploit its organizational potential to save Jews in a concerted effort. I mean take Oskar Schindler who was an atheist, gambler and womanizer and yet he is responsible of majority of Jews that were saved during WW2. Bishops and cardinals of Germany with their Agape crap didn't come even close in doing the moral actions of this one atheist man.

The truth is that Catholic Church stance against prostitution is a very recent thing, that happened after WW2. I mean take one of the biggest and worshiped teachers in Catholic Church, St. Augustine, he fully supported legal prostitution. His logic went something like this: the easy availability of hookers would save good Christian virgins from falling prey to the seductions of sex-crazed men. If they could satisfy their "bestial desires" with professional prostitutes, sinful men would leave innocent Christian girls alone. Building on this idea, Augustine argued that without prostitution, society would collapse due to excessive lust.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

3. Requisitioning the Paris brothels. A tawdry tid bit of WW2 history is that the German officers requisitioned all the high-class brothels and Paris, and denied the Frenchmen any access to those shameless trashy women who worked in those institutions. I don't recall a single instance where the Wehrmacht officers decided to make decent women out of them.

Why are you having a go at the working girls?

Did you get the clap from one?

Fuxxake, THIS again?  Given how much everyone (apart from a coterie of full-blown whack-a-loons) is pushing and shoving to denounce Hitler, does it make all that much difference which religion he claims?

Suppose for the nonce that Hitler was indeed a Catholic - he accepted the authority of the Pope, believed in transubstantiation, the Sacraments, and all the rest of it.  How does his mindless butchery of 'non-Aryans' in any way invalidate Catholicism?  I was raised in a Catholic household:  went to Mass and Sunday school, did my catechism, was confirmed, etc, etc.  I don't recall any Catholic dogma or doctrine instructing me to kill all the Jews in Europe.

No matter what religious label people want to stick on Hitler, it isn't going to fit properly.  Can't we just call him a Hitlerite and leave it at that?

That's probably because between 1930 and 1965 Catholic church completely reversed its position relative to Jews. The centuries-old teaching of contempt gave way to a recognition of the ongoing vitality of Judaism. That's why we still have today Catholics loyal to so called Vatican 1 like Mel Gibson, his family and alike.
