Arabs and oil
Atlas Journals: August 28, 2017
---------------------------------------

Energy consumption did witness quite an interesting advance; with the introduction of electric technology, to the harnessing of the sun's energy and wind energy, it looks like humanity got over fossil fuel.

With this withdrawal from the energy source in a matter of 80 years only (since WW2), fossil fuel is not black gold anymore: it's more of a "black temporary cash revenue". The duration of its advent did not move Islamic nations any further; instead it made the appearance of proxies like ISIS and the creation of defeat in almost all fields a reality.

Oil producing countries are facing the catastrophe of lack of demand with the decline of oil prices. This simply means that any power that based its economy on oil is facing destruction due to bankruptcy. The gulf countries show a very splendid example of this.

WW2 didn't even finish a 100 years span. The societies of the Middle-East are becoming more rotten from the inside; and that only sends the signs of a fall. Either due to civil wars, or bankruptcy, this fate looks coming no matter what.

A personal note: This is what you get when you replace an open-border policy with racism, and this is what you get when you think that a handful of cash make you an immortal who is better than everybody.

RE: Arabs and oil
Isn't terrorism their second biggest export?
Maybe they'll ramp that up?

It's a pity that they're too backwards to manufacture nuclear weapons like our friend Kim. At least then, we can start taking the Arabs seriously, albeit for all the wrong reasons.

About 100 years ago the majority of the Middle East, especially the Arabian peninsula, were nomadic and lived in tents. I'm willing to bet that in another 100 years they will be living in tents again.

Oil money fuels exported terrorism, when cold fusion is developed oil will be worth next to nothing. Cultures that refuse to leave the 13th century behind will be swept into the historic trash bin. With no money to fuel them the threat will diminishe.

Cmon Atlas, don't fret.  Oil is still where it's at in the first world...and when it's not there's still the second and third world to supply. Hell, at some point, that oil might even go to improving the lives of the people around it's extraction.

Stranger things have happened.

This is why i said when it comes to Venezuala they have a useless resource. Their market was based on oil and oil alone
and with the failure of Opec and the now popularity of green energy oil itself is on the way out. You have China now leading the way
green energy while in the U.S. we are investing more into a dying industry that is oil.

Unfortunately the solar industry china is leading the way on is dirty as hell.  Incremental progress, I guess.

Does China even have a local solar industry?

@atlas:

1.  Demand for petroleum isn't going to evaporate.  Where do you think most of the world's plastics and other organic structural and special purpose materials comes from?

2.  Most of the carbon emission reduction by the electric generation sector in the world over the last 10 years had not been attributable to renewable.  Most were attributable to conversion from coal to natural gas, which emits 1/3 as much CO2 as coal by MWH generated.  Demand for natural gas will likely remain high.  Middle eastern oil field will likely remain able to profit by natural gas production in the face of declining oil demand.

@ignormus:  china has by far the largest installed solar and wind generation capacity in the world, and install more additional solar and wind capacity per year than any other country in the world.   It has aroumd twice America's installed capacity in each of those category, and is adding new solar and wind capacity around twice as fast as the US.

However, china has both by far the largest renewable generation fleet in the world, and also by far the largest coal generator fleet in the world.    China doesn't produce much natural gas from its tradition petroleum fields, and hasn't caught the fracking wave, so mass conversion from coal to natural gas as has happened in the US is not likely to happen any time soon in china.

We can really  thank Elon for the advancements in solar energy really.

If I am not correct Saudis have nukes, someone can correct me if I am wrong but that has been my long term understanding.
