If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Kind of disturbing to see the lack of empathy here, as people (including children) are losing their lives and their loved ones. Instead, here we are using this tragedy to make jokes and poke fun at people of faith.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I did have the same thought CL. My response was to the post at the top of the page about a Christian condemning Christians along with an entire states worth of millions of people, with perceived godly intervention by use of natural disasters as the weapon of choice, for punishment.

Yes, my post wasn't directed towards you. Lack of empathy and using this as a means of advancing any particular bias in the face of people dying is sad regardless of where it comes from.

I am pointing out someone that is blaming this tragedy on gay people. Implicit in my comment is a real world concern for the victims since the blame is most likely human caused climate change, not gay people. My concern is also for gay people who might be singled out for attack due to irresponsible and irrational comments like those made by Coulter. I hope I am not being petty in a time of crisis.

RE: Christians are to blame for Hurricane Harvey.
A few years ago the former governor, Rick Perry, arranged a day of prayer for rain.

Perhaps god's just slow.

God's to do list:

Let children in Africa starve - Done.
Appear on a toasted sandwich - Done.
Talk to Donald trump - Cancelled. Man's a maniac!
Send rain to Texas - fuck, that was four years ago! Better do something now!

Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:

"You did WHAT?  With WHO?  WHERE???"
