RE: Myanmar's ethnic cleansing against Muslim Rohingya minority
Nonetheless, have you ever asked yourself Atlas why it is that muslims always seem to end up in the crosshairs?

I didn't expect any substance behind the accusation. I appreciate your confirmation though.

The world is silent. I brought some links that all support my claim; and they aren't from the west only:

I learned about this from Al-Jazeera.net, a Qatari news agency.

Quote: Those buddhists are so peaceful typically.

Hard to believe that they are persecuting people based on their religion alone.

I would have thought Buddhist extremism might look a bit more like this:http://www.theonion.com/article/buddhist-extremist-cell-vows-to-unleash-tranquilit-34623

I will pray to the Virgin Mary for peace in that nation.

The Catholic pope doesn't agree with you:

The only "peaceful" Buddhists are those in movies.
In reality, you'll find what BBC wrote:

Quote:Christian crusaders, Islamist militants, or the leaders of "freedom-loving nations", all justify what they see as necessary violence in the name of a higher good. Buddhist rulers and monks have been no exception.

http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-22356306

In the real world; under fear (even fear for stupid reasons), humans become self-righteous, and they butcher for the most stupid reasons. Or; maybe a Buddhist monk felt horny, so he killed a Rohingya child after raping him, this is the real world.

Quote:Wiki indicates the Rohingya practice a Sunnis/Sufism brand of Islam. If they are viewed as 'infidels' (??) by their fellow religionists in the Mideast, then the US is going to catch hell for helping them.

If they aren't, then why no outrage from the appropriate sect in the Mideast ??

Just wondering, there seems to be a big part of the story missing.

Additionally, this is a huge headache for Bangladesh, and I'm sure they would really like their $100,000,000 that North Korea stole back as soon as possible.

Going into the complications of sects is not even needed. The real reason for this violence is covered in this BBC article:

http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-22356306

Quote:Tellingly, the violence began in a gold shop. The movements in both countries exploit a sense of economic grievance - a religious minority is used as the scapegoat for the frustrated aspirations of the majority.

On Tuesday, Buddhist mobs attacked mosques and burned more than 70 homes in Oakkan, north of Rangoon, after a Muslim girl on a bicycle collided with a monk. One person died and nine were injured.

You bothered that I posted religious standards or that I posted?

Okay..Reports spoke about raping of children, beheading children, and we didn't see an international "alliance" that includes a Buddhist third party attack Burma to stop the genocide, like WW2, or Syria's ISIS.

That's quite....bigot, don't you think?

I mean I can't just go and rape a child then cut their head then say "well....you know...If they grew up, they would do the same"..I mean seriously, we're speaking about ethnic cleansing here, combined with pedophilia, mass murder, racism, xenophobia. That's why justification for any of it is not just wrong; it's "hypocrisy and bigotry". And if by snowflake you mean "being human"; then I'm proud to be a snowflake.

You have so many good points TBH, we don't know the future to judge this way; and if we judge like this, everybody will burn because of the paranoia.

Personally; I would blame a large portion of the stress on the British Empire, and the devastation it did in WW2 in the Asian theater against the Empire of Japan. I think I read that the Rohingya were armed by the British, while the natives were armed by Japan, so local tension had its roots there.

Though later on; what is the guilt of Rohingya children? This is the same issue that I see Arabs having with Israel: WW2 Jews built that bunker, it wasn't the Jewish of today. We are not our fathers, neither are we their actions.

Many Muslims get used time after time as proxies. Many translate the religion wrong. The fall of the Ottoman empire put them in the cross hairs  if you ask me.

Oh Jesus balls. Come on. You people read into things to align with what you want to hear based on things that are never stated or implied. That's what is meant by snowflake.

At no point did I say that it was right, or that it was proper, or that it was justified, or that I supported it, or that either side deserved what they were getting. It was a simple statement that based on things that we have seen in the media, given time, the muslims likely would be doing the exact same thing. That is not cheering on one side or the other.

Um, yeah, going into the complications of sects is needed. If we airlift a bunch of refugees and drop them in the wrong place in the Middle East, for instance, we could start a (another) war, and the Rohingya will still get massacred. Just sending medical and/or food aid to the wrong outfit can result in reprisals, diplomatic complications, and unintended complications. And, do the displaced Rohingya have any kind of organizational structure, that has been vetted, and we can be assured beforehand any aid isn't going to wind up helping a warlord, and/or sold off before reaching the right people and the money either pissed away or spent on weapons to attack us/our allies/neutral parties. Additionally, just read article in Science News (IIRC) and Bangladesh is becoming rapidly uninhabitable due to global warming due to increased temperature and humidity reaching lethal levels more and more often. Encouraging refugees to go there seems especially ill advised considering how long people can be refugees and how fast AGW is progressing.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Not for nothing, but Senegal might take them. They offered to give Haitians a province, and they aren't even Muslim.

Hahaha. I'm surprised that you were the first one to jump on that.

I started with "liberals", then changed it to "you guys", then pulled out the ol' Ross Perot tagline. You can't go wrong with Ross.

That was kinda of a bating reply, but it illustrates the point; people read into the very smallest of things what they want to hear to help them make their point.
