But as I warn everyone, atheists and Christians and Jews and Hindus and Buddhists alike, you can only address the east in terms of rights, but not in terms of our species collective history. Religion in all it's forms worldwide in our species history is patriarchal and male dominated.
Even in China and India just like more conservative sects of LDS and Amish and Mormons, even there, girls and women are seen, depending on family and sect, to be the subjugated and responsible for the sexual honor of the family. Even in Israel you have right wing Jews whom have called for the ban of fashion billboards, and refused to sit on planes next to females.
Islam, while it did not invent violence or sexism, it still is living in the past comparatively speaking to the rest of the world. I don't post this to call for the end of any religion, but simply for those to consider, that your fellow human being, regardless of gender, is not something to be controlled. Females are half the world's population.
